Thanks. While a few hundred isn't quite the few thousand I got last year, I still think it's fair for only last year uploads. And it's incomparable to those money-grabbers over at Shutterstock.

When Adobe announced Adobe Firefly in March 2023, we shared that we are developing generative AI responsibly, with creators at the center.

In addition to your regular stock licensing revenue which covers Firefly training, we want to recognize your contributions through our second-ever Adobe Stock contributor bonus.

The 2024 bonus is based on photos, vectors, or illustrations approved between June 3, 2023, and June 2, 2024, as well as, for the first time, the all-time number of videos approved through June 2, 2024, and the number of licenses that all those assets generated in the same 12-month period.

A banner on the Insights>My Statistics tab in the Contributor portal provides the specific amount that was added to your account.

We plan to base potential subsequent bonuses on new approved assets and licenses they generate annually.

We have put together an FAQ here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/firefly-faq-for-adobe-stock-contributors.html

Thank you so much! Never had a bonus from anyone before in the microstock business. I got about 100 and am pleasantly surprised and thankful!

Hi,

a) Thank-you. If I am reading the following line correctly:
We plan to base potential subsequent bonuses on new approved assets and licenses they generate annually.

I.e., meaning that additional (in addition to the training aspect bonus) "potential subsequent" bonuses will be also included from assets generated from the AI tool itself, then that sounds very good. Companies in general (for 'responsible' "AI") - should be compensating authors in perpetuity - the same way the companies expect to be paid in perpetuity.

b) As an FYI - authors should be able to opt-out of having their assets 'trained' (including having them removed from previously built models if explicit consent was not provided). Yes, companies like midjourney basically stole the data - and they should be held accountable for the stolen data (including retroactive compensation for stolen works). One step at a time. Then other companies that did sneaky 'sell data first, here's a few bucks to say we 'gave consideration', then say 'oh here's an opt out button' (i.e., shutterstock as a more visible example) should also retroactively compensate authors. That would be the next step.

c) Anyways, thank-you for the current bonus.

At least the AI is trained legally.
Still disappointing, because i am training my competition.  :(
Payouts total (Contributor Bonus) / number of images online = 0.029 USD per image  :'(

I am ranked around position 1500. Possible other photographers get more / less.
In my case i earn 0.45 USD per image each year. In the future i will lose these earnings for "0.029 USD" one-time-payment.
I do not know how to feel about.

Can you please update us on the reason inspection times are so painfully long? There has been nada in the form of communication. 2-3 months is a bit over the top.

this calculation is wrong,it would have been right if you only had video in your port,or at least it would have been a result closer to reality.

the second Firefly bonus is calculated on the new content uploaded from June 2023 to June 2024 and for the first time also videos, and on the sales that this new content has generated.

This choice was made, because in this way Firefly is trained based on customer choices, and i think also because it has a lower cost, since the bonus is calculated based on content that has already generated income.

"Payouts". 2x Payout for all my images. No video.
What did I miscalculate? Please do the math instead of philosophizing about it.
Adobe now allowed to use all my images and i have the amount in total i got paid for.
2 data only.  ??? = 0.029 USD a image
But I don't want to discuss the obvious. Please stop here!

it's probably a misunderstanding that many have thought about, many believe that the bonus is based on all your content in your portfolio but this is not the case.

0.029 per image is incorrect.

but I think we all should now start dividing all the bonuses for all the years so we get to 0.0000001 per image in few years, and we could all feel better about doing this for sure,I'm very sure that all of us will feel much better after!  :D

Bonus 2023 + Bonus 2024 = Payouts
Number of images / payouts = 0.029 USD
= All images used for training AI for 0.029 USD each.
What is not correct with that?

Think, if we calculate that the images are used not only today, but also in the next 10 years AND unlimited times, then yes, 0.0000001 USD could be correct.  ;D

8000/ 5000 ? (if 8K videos uploaded 06/23 - 06/24)
1.60 USD
Iam out of this discussion. Weird   ;D

@jar

I was replying to the PM you sent me but it says you blocked me,I don't know why,but anyway I'll reply here:

the second Firefly bonus is calculated only on content uploaded between June 2023 and June 2024,regarding photos and illustrations, and on all videos uploaded because it is the first time that videos are also taken into consideration for the Firefly bonus.

but it is not enough to see how many photos and videos you have uploaded, but you also need to see how many sales all this content has generated during the period between June 2023-2024 for the photos and illustrations and how many sales all the videos have always made.

in short, dividing the bonuses received by the number of contents in the portfolio is not exact,we need to see what exactly we uploaded between June 2023 and June 2024 and how many sales this content made in this 12 month period.

I hope it's clearer now,and if I may,I advise you not to take things personally,we are just discussing here,no one knows everything and no one is better than the others,I too make mistakes like everyone else makes mistakes,no one is perfect.

have a nice day!  :)

I had $200 with 2,5K videos, but I only have them online for half a year. It was also based on the number of licenses sold, not pure quantity.

I got $1521 from approx. 1800 videos. I have been contributing to Adobe since 2018. For anyone who is interested in the technical details of how Adobe is using stills from videos to train AI image generation: https://petapixel.com/2024/08/22/adobe-researchs-impressive-new-ai-cut-and-paste-photo-editor-was-trained-on-videos/

In the Discord I read something about 4-6 weeks review time for the FreeCollection pictures - probably it will be similar for the videos.

They don't care.   When Mat was here at least there was a chance he'd communicate to development, now nada.

For me even more annoying is "Select Period" in insights that constantly resets itself to last 3 months.  I typically want to see since 1st of current month & constantly have to modify field. Remembering user preference would be super easy to support, but again they simply don't care.

You're correct, it always resets to the last three months. It does remember to show Activity, or whatever someone checked last.

I'm pretty sure the answer from Mat, most often, was, I've mentioned that to them, there are other projects being worked on first.

I'd like to have better historical stats. I don't think Adobe considers that important. It's all there, we can see it, in batches, by time, we just can't all of it, at once.
