Title: Adobe Stock won't pull keywords metadata from EPS 10 file
Post by: smcbuki on January 22, 2021, 02:05
I am using Adobe Illustrator and I always edit file info of my vectors. Shutterstock and 123RF pull all metadata, but Adobe Stock pulls out just a title and then he just suggests keywords.
How can I resolve this?
It's not really big trouble for me to copy/paste keywords from SS or 123, but I'm thinking of adding more agencies (Alamy, Dreamstime, Vectorstock...) and I understand things get more complicated if you don't use metadata.

I think if you upload a zip to Adobe with the EPS and JPG preview and put the same meta data on the JPG file it will pull.  Haven't uploaded in a while so I don't know if it's changed but that used to work for me.

Thanks for the reply!
I export .jpg from the same Illustrator project, so I assume it has the same metadata as the .eps file. Both files are zipped and uploaded, but still nothing.
I'll check if Illustrator saves metadata into .jpg when exporting.
Thanks for the idea!

Maybe you can look and see what's there? Until you asked, I never added Metadata to any EPS files.  8)

Yeah, I have already read that. Thanks.
Shutterstock and 123RF are handling it fine, but Adobe not so.
And I just checked, .jpg also contains metadata, except keywords are separated by semicolons, and that's no problem because Adobe accepts semicolons as well as commas.

Well it was educational for me. I upload the EPS only to Adobe, no JPG attached. I always had problems with the ZIP files and the way they read them. If you have verified your data is embedded, try just the EPS file? I'll be watching, because I'd like to make mine easier too, but if they don't read the data, as you have found, then I'm not going to waste my time.  :)

As it is, I just cut and paste from the JPGs, which is the long way. I don't do more than six images any day, so not so terrible. If you make more, I understand why you would want everything read from the files.

Good Luck!

Now I want to try and see if that data is read. Thanks for the tip.

I checked on this for you and confirmed that you need to embed your keywords in a jpg file add it to a .zip folder with the vector for your submission to have the system read the keywords. Otherwise, copy/paste as you noted or a CSV file will be your best alternative.

Thanks. I'll give it a try, again. I'm probably mistaking somewhere.
