Title: Agency working seriously now
Post by: Artist on September 11, 2016, 22:55
I see a constant growth with fotolia. Sales are getting better.
Adobe is seriously working on it, I am sure it will be a good competitor for shutterstock.

it`s just a feeling or?  ;)
From this month sales are going better. Holidays are over. Customers come back from summer holiday. Every year the same. Not related to Adobe i think.

Don't worry they will come back :)
I feel for me it going to be BME if everything goes in same pace. lets see

They are certainly pushing hard.
I unsubscribed from all Adobe mailings because of constant pushing of stock images. All was fine for a while, then a few weeks back I got a few unrequested free offer emails and unsubscribed again.

I recently had a rep from fotolia/adobe reach out asking for more images (with the usual incentives hard disk or ftp submission and they do the rest etc), they are definitely pushing!

FT is going better this month than DT right now (yes, I said better than DT)
Nothing like the glory days though ... I had a rep asking me for more images too but I like to keyword my own. I wish their category selection was easier.

Is DT good for you? For me its fallen off a cliff. Finding FT quite variable quiet then a run of nice sales

For me DT is very poor, I stopped upload there.

I hear DT is very bad for lots of people but the agency is still doing okay for me. DT has always made more than FT but maybe not this month...

I don't have the same experience in FT. My sales there are only around 5% from what I have on SS  :-\

Maybe I don't have the type of images that sell well there. It can also be the quality of the images, but in SS I perform quick well. On FT I have around 1.600 files (half of I have on SS) and I'm around the 7000th position on the general ranking.

I also stop uploading pictures on DT. Sales are becoming smaller and smaller. For me it is a waste of time. I stop uploading on iS too ( do to they last " great news").

Just goes to show we shouldn't generalize our own experience too much DT has never been great for me

I said 6 Months ago FT is the one to watch. real Hot for me and getting Hotter. Adobe is a Professional Company. And last Month DT finally started some positive Movement. SS is now dead again after a amazing August.

It's never been on my radar... ever. 0.25c per download 8 years ago was despicable and it remains even more so 8 years later.

Yes Adobe is a professional company with a very good customer base.
For instance there are more than 7 Million Paid Members of creative cloud and they also have a pre-existing customer base of fotolia.
I strongly think they will be a good or very good competition of shutterstock.

My buyers are still in holiday.

Mine have emigrated on Mars :(

Fotolia is enough irregular for me, but sales seem to grow slowly.
DreamsNightmarestime is a complete disaster, sales are less and less every month, despite regular uploads
Shutterstock is always stable, but does not grow so fast even with a bigger portfolio. Old images continue to sell well, new images sell but not as much as expected

DT is alive, but their policy regarding model releases is strange and i take this case as personal, they do not accept any model release. All the years. Their reason is strange - nationalities and countries of model AND photographer should match (they didn't accept release given even at Yuri workshop in Aarhus - participants remember?). The same copy of release was accepted by all agencies and for other models no problems with releases. They don't sell good enough to do exclisive shots for them only.

my sales is pretty good. Close to shutterstock this month. Huge change for me. this is good because the sale price is better for my photos there. What that shutterstock will stop refuse photo  just because they lost sale money ;)

They are definitely increasing and I am liking those $1.65 sales - they are about the only agency that is increasing RPDL, although they started at a low level.  Lifetime they are number 6 for me overall, behind DT at number 3 and 124rf at number 4.  Canva passed them last month for number 5.  By the end of the year I expect FT will be back at number 5 as both DT and 123 (and most of the other small ones) have pretty much died the past few months.  My prediction is that only SS, FT and Canva will survive the next couple of years - the others will fold, be absorbed, or reduced to insignificance.  Hope I'm wrong but that seems to be where it's heading right now.

Fotolia is still almost dead for me.  Tried uploading new images but it made no difference, so probably not worth it.

Finding them quite inconsistent but then again pretty much everywhere seems to be for me these days apart from the walking dead sites such as Yay

My 2nd best agency.  I too like the FT sales that are more than the paltry 25 cents with many other agencies.

I like Fotolia, they (Adobe most likely) surely know how to sell footage. Joined only several months ago and now having there approx half of Shutterstock sales in terms of revenue.

One thing bothers me a bit, there is still no single 4K sale for me. What is your experience?

I have only sold one 4k clip there, but not that many in the other sites either to be honest.

I sell more 4K clips on Pond5 which are priced the same as Shutterstock.
I've had a few 4K sales on Shutterstock.
I've had no 4K sales on Fotolia.

Just getting my entire video port online there now. If any company in this business can pull off a good stock site Adobe has that chance!

Sounds good! Sorry for going slightly offtopic, but 4K pricing on Pond5 was always trouble for me. My cheap 4K clips have sold several times but I can remember only one sale of the clip priced at $159. I think my camera 4K output might be the problem since usually buyer might be seeking some high end RED 4K footage I guess...

I have sold 4 4k clips over the past 2 months. I don't have a ton but subject matter is still king!

And despite twice having unsubscribed from all adobe communications twice over all the spam about adobe stock, I got yet another one this morning inviting me (not personally, it's presumably a blanket email) to sell via Adobe Stock.

I hate adverts and I hate spam.
Stop it already. Obey my unsubscribe instructions.

maybe they know you are an adobe user and like your work ;)
still, why would you not want to sell via AS??? given the situation is not
so good with is and ss these days???

They haven't a clue about my work, it was a general spam email.
But given that I feel kicked in the stomach when I get 75c for an iS sub sale, and worse when it's a lot less from Getty, the chance of me willingly signing up for 25c is very slight (which is why I was never in SS), but as always, I reserve the right to change my mind.

Adobe's cloud is a big scam—especially for loyal customers like myself. Glad the stock sales are improving as it doesn't make me hate them so much. But I still won't rent their clouds.  8)

You won't rent their cloud. But there are lot many people who will do. Also this isn't super costly that it cannot be afforded.

ah, good reason. it didn't cross my mind i too would be starting at 25c at AS.
still, we all started at 28 c with ss and got some good earnings for a while before they went public to get a shortfall of 50%.
as someone here said, it does not matter if it's pennies so long as it adds up to something worthwhile.

still, i am not sure if we will ever see the days of cumulative worthwhile-ness with anyone to the right column in the future.
but like you, i will reserve my right to change my mind if hell freezes over ;)

My Fotolia sales are definitely picking up now more than they were. I make sales more consistently there than at SS nowadays.

i would not be surprised, given the consensus of zero days at ss forum.

adobe has the credibility factor, and fotolia, even in my early days in the days when we only had
5 contenders is, fotolia, ss, dreamstime and bigstock,
was always giving me good earnings.
i only stopped because it was too much work giving to all 5,
when ss started making me regular money with whatever i submitted.

as i said, it will be good if we do get back to 5 contenders
say, stocksy, alamy, adobe and canva
as this will prevent us putting too many eggs in one basket...
like we used to do with all istock or all ss.
