Title: Announcing The Adobe Stock Model Tagger
Post by: MatHayward on January 11, 2023, 12:32
Hi Everyone,

Today we activated the Adobe Stock Model Tagger. This feature will help us gather data from your model releases.  We will use this data in search filters to improve our buyers user experience, and help surface diverse content.  The ethnicity, gender, and age metadata in titles and keywords will continue to be used for search relevance and remains unaffected by the Model Tagger information.

Here’s how to locate the Model Tagger: in the Releases section of the Contributor portal, you’ll notice a + sign next to a release.  Click on it, selecting whether it’s a model or property release.  For model releases, select the gender, age, and ethnicity at the time of the shoot.

We have scanned the model releases of all assets licensed at least once in the past two years.  As a result, you’ll see that many of your releases already have information about ethnicity and gender added.  We suggest clicking on the plus icon to add information about the model’s age.  In the future, we will scan all model releases upon upload for the ethnicity and gender information, which will be added automatically.

Please see our FAQ for more information: https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/model-tagger-faq.html

Let me know if you have any questions.

In cases of pics of myself I have used the same model release for a while - I presume I should upload a new model release when I cross an age boundary (or in my case is it possible to re-associate pics from a different age category with a different model release?) since it has been a number of years and photos since that happened.

I get a 404 error when I clicked on the "what do we mean by ...." link.

I presume we are to label people of mixed ethnicities/race as both or do we go with the USA method of just a little non-white makes one the non-white category.

You likely don't need to add a new release of yourself. You should be able to simply update your age range and any other relevant information in the Model Tagger. That will apply to the filters when they are in place. The keywords you apply to your current content should also accurately reflect your age range when the photo was taken.

As far as ethnicity is concerned, you should select the options that accurately reflect the identities of the models you work with, including yourself when you are in front of the lens instead of behind it.

Thanks for the questions,
