Title: Best sellers
Post by: LostOne on March 12, 2010, 17:26
One of my images was purchased quite a few times today so I went to check if it qualified for the best sellers section under the today tab. Didn't find it so I went and checked a few images there. Many of those only had 1, 2, 3, 4 downloads. I always though that the number of downloads count, but it looks like it isn't so. Anyone knows the formula?

Under what criteria? It surely ain't downloads, since my picture would be there if that was the case.

I think that out of the pool of images with about one to four downloads that qualify for the lower ranks of "best-sellers" on a specific day, the images that appear in that category are chosen at random. Also, you have to take into account that the best-sellers are counted seperately for each national site. So if one of your images sold four times on one day - say once in the US, three times in Turkey, and once in Italy - you might find it in the "best-seller" section on Fotolia Turkey but probably not on Fotolia US.

Ahh, didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

Probably something like that also. I think that if an image gets a download immediately after it is accepted it can get into that list.

Best seller of the day is not worth considering as useful information. Many of the day's 'best sellers' are new(ish) uploads with frequently one view and one download. I've also had 3 or 4 downloads of one file in a day and it has never appeared in best seller of the day whilst files that have only ever sold once or twice in their life up until then do appear.

Another totally useless 'tool' is 'most searched keywords by buyers'..........CHRISTMAS is the biggest 365 days per year.
