Title: Clearly the person that QCed my photos had a very bad day.
Post by: vlassisd on January 20, 2018, 16:37
I uploaded almost 300 hundred photos, most of them from Meteora Greece.Almost all of them rejected cause of intellectual property refusal when i know for sure that Meteora doesn`t have photography restrictions and don`t require property release. And i`m 1,000,000% sure about that. Not only that but all other stock agencies accepted them no problem.I even had a photo of rocks rejected,no monastery or building...ROCKS!

Not to mention that many other photos rejected for similar image, when there are only two photos the same but one is vertical and the other horizontal.Plus many rejected for aesthetic or commercial appeal of image. On other agencies again accepted with out a problem.

So, yes the person that QC`ed my photos on Sunday 20/01/18 23:00 local Greek time was clearly on a bad day...

Seriously did you have to refer to periods?

Men don't have them and it's a piggish thing to say women give you crap because of their period.

Could be your photos should have been editorial as the ones you have feature the church

https://thumb9.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/3122600/796516225/stock-photo-the-meteora-is-a-rock-formation-in-central-greece-hosting-one-of-the-largest-and-most-precipitous-796516225.jpg

Anyway seriously how many friikin photos of a rock in greece does any one need

300 thats just plain stoopid

What does a woman's period have to do with the rejection of your images?
I know it's meant as a joke, but it's not very funny and in today's society, where women still have to stand up for themselves to get paid the same as men, to be believed when they claim to be sexual assault victims, you decide to liken the 'irrational' rejection of your images to a woman on her period? Utterly misplaced.

Obviously i apologise for the wrong term that i used and especially the women that had to read that (I'm merried by the way and i hate offending women) but I'm was seriously pissed off. So apologies again...
Now about the comment Sammy the Cat made: it wasn't 300 hundred photos of rocks. It was around 100. If anyone of you been in Meteora you would know how vast it is and how many different monasteries there are there. So there wasn't a single identical photo there. All different views and different angles. I tried to keep it to minimum.
There are accounts in Adobe and shutterstock that have hundreds of identical photos of a tree or a plate and forks, so in my eyes your argument that I'm stoopid is invalid.
About the model release  since you can't see a face in Adobe stock (it was my wife) you Don't need a model release and as i said Meteora doesn't require model release anywhere...
Maybe for you it's another rock in Greece but for me it isn't. No more than Grand Canyon that there are 2.000.000 the same photos.
But i mean, come on, property release from a rock?  ;D
Anyway you right as i said couple of times about my stupid mistake but you wrong about the fact that it was just another shot of a rock or that some rocks require property releases.
I stand my ground thinking that whoever QCed my photos had a bad day. And now i have to pay for that...

From curtesy...
Just hope some times people were as sensitive to other more important things in life than just a joke. But then again they don't see the hordes of war refuges washing out from the sea in Aegean every day like i do. THAT is a sensitive issue...

I apologized 3 times with in a post. Let's talk about the issue here. My bad photography as it said before by someone or for the fact that I didn't ask for properly release from some rocks...

Does that extrapolate out to physical hurt as well as non-physical hurt/discomfort? So if somebody burns your house down or breaks your legs then it's your fault, not theirs... correct?

No need to be butt-hurt about what Sammy said, Dumc... but remember it's your problem, not Sammy's.

I've been to Meteora multiple times and undestand what you are talking about but the thing is are there really buyers and in that quantities that need photos of Meteora, let alone all the individual Monasteries there? I think you are wasting too much time uploading that much photos with no potential return. What I'd do if I was close to it I'd try to capture the vast location in one shot, in different seasons and different times of day to get unique shots, something passing tourists can't do and be done with Meteora.

P.s. I don't have problems with period jokes, my girlfriend enforces them.

Perhaps try uploading them to SS as commercial.

As a last resort, go down the editorial route.

Welcome to the forum and best of luck, file :)

Finally someone with a proper reply.
Thank you qunamax, appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately the place is too far away from me. I live in Kos in the winter and Corfu in the summer, so not easy for me to get there. Nevertheless I'll try to get there again.
Thanks again for your feedback.
P.s My wife hates it when i use the period joke. I use it when i want to annoy her.  ;D

Hey there again and good news that SS has accepted it as commercial!

Just have to accept that some QC will take a conservative approach when dealing with borderline calls relating to legal issues such as images of Meteora. It can be frustrating. Lately, I'm questioning whether it's even worth submitting dozens of my Rio aerials to iStock as they're taking the stupid line that they need to protect graffiti "artists" to a whole new level, especially when their vandalism is only 5 pixels in size.  :o May just have to skip iStock altogether or submit it as editorial (which decreases its worth).

As for technical issues, SS in particular seems to be letting more images through with technical imperfections that would have been rejected only a year ago. That's probably a bad thing though as it means the market is inundated with mediocre images.

See you around!

It sure isn't easy, cheap or would payoff but you are in better position for Meteora than many when you are on Corfu, thou I guess the biggest drawback is ferry cost especially for a car, but very doable if you can find an excuse for a detour. :)
As for the editor he/she was probably just making excuses for so many photos of the same/similar location.

Joke's are funny, you were just being insulting compounded by an insincere apology when you needed help.  As soon as you got what you wanted you repeated the insult.  You are right though, I should chill and not let arseholes get my back up.

Mate listen... If you are a man or you may be a woman, i can't really tell by a name that refers to something else. That's my real name by the way.
I don't know you and clearly you don't know me. I have never called anyone an arsehole in here. My apology was sincere and if you can't accept it you can go and f***k your self.
I joked because the thread was getting out of hand, just to lighten up the whole thing. I didn't insult anyone and most definitely you wasn't one of the persons that helped. No one forces you to be in this thread. Let alone calling me an arsehole over a period joke. If that's to heavy for you then you can gtfo. Keyboard warrior. I bet you are one of the biggest racist. That is a reason to be insulted... Not a period joke that couple of you turned to a political agenta. Again come and see how many people I've helped in the island of Kos the last couple of years and then you can talk about arsholes. You wouldn't even dream to offer something anywhere close back to your fellow human beings.

You did insult somebody. You insulted the entire female population of the world by insinuating that good or bad decisions are purely dictated by whether somebody is menstruating or not.

As for Dumbc... nobody is offended by the use of the word 'period', they're offended by the sexist comment that included the word period. If he was asking for advice on how to best create a set of stock images that could be used by buyers to represent somebody being on their period, then that would be a different matter entirely. And if people did take offence at that use of the word period, you'd be well within your rights to express your confusion and/or surprise at that offence.

As it stands, you're still entitled to express your confusion and/or surprise at the offence in question, but doing so just makes you seem like a bit of a dick.

Hypocrite
There are different ways to ask someone to be more polite. And couple of people didn't choose the right way. The went straight to insult. Just like you did by calling me a dick. As i said I'm not going to carry on because obviously people are offended by the word period, but they can call someone a dick, an idiot, a sexist, arsehole and i don't even remember what else. That's cool.

vlassis dont bother with agencies and rejections.if your work was accepted in ss the first place  and istock maybe? then why bother if adobe rejected the pics.
my guess is they are looking for the most sellable pics and unfo meteora is not  one of them.If you posted pictures of corfu or santorini or mykonos or athens you d had more sales.truth to be told.

Nice change to your original message. Did these all get rejected or did the whole batch get rejected because of the one fail rule. Whole rejection for property for 300 images seems a bit off. Did you write Alamy and appeal?

^^I'm not sure that writing to Alamy about rejections at Adobe would do any good.

Seemed more like a bulk rejection, not one by one for 300 files. Mistake from me, make that write to Adobe and appeal. They have answered me when I had a reject, and said no way. But I did get an answer.

 important thing is:

the fact, that some images are accepted at one, more, or all the agencies, except one - does not mean it should, and/or it will be accepted at that one agency. no matter which agency.

if you had bunch of 300 images sent, and all 300 rejected, it might be your images are really really bad, or do not meet specific criteria at specific website.
however, there are some other reasons which can be in place as well, but i would not write it at public forum, but, without seeing pics, i assume your images might be just random snaps. or you might need property releases. o.k. you don't need pr for stones and rocks however. but i hoep you got my point.
you can ask agency for additional clarification, or you can just move on to your next project.
