Title: Do you find your V1 old photos in Fotolia when making a search?
Post by: Alatriste on April 05, 2008, 18:40
Well, I dont.

They are in my portfolio but when I look for them with their keywords, they cant be found.

I was having good sales (from my point of view) in fotolia V1 but since they upgraded to V2, sales dropped dramatically.
I think the answer is that my old best sellers cant be found.

So, could be a solution to delete old images and re-upload them?

Trebuchet,

Check my test in this thread:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/index.php/topic,2539.0.html

It is the 8th msg, Oct 10th.  The first example is of a V2 image.  The second of a V1 image.

I have emailed FT Brazil (a lady from there used to keep contact with me when the site started), but they never replied.

But soemhow images sell.  There are images that I have no idea how a buyer finds them, because I can't.

Regards,
Adelaide

When I view my portfolio at FT, I've got about 40 pre V2 pictures that never change position.  Everything else changes with uploads and sales, but these pictures are just 'stuck'.  They always appear on the first page of my portfolio view and never change position, ever.

I am gradually deleting them and uploading again because it is clear that they are somehow 'stuck'.

From my point of view these keyword issues at FT are just ridiculous. Very, very frustrating.

With V1 I had 260 images online (with german keywords).

After the switch to V2 my bestsellers could not be found via keyword search. Support told me they had translation problems which they will solve.

After 2 months nothing was solved, sales dropped.

So I deleted some images and re-uploaded them with english keywords. Same result: not found and some of them just show stupid translations.

I deleted them again an now make a last attempt with german keywords again (according to FT forum posts, this should work now).

If I cant find them now, FT is off my list.

I can find them by first 7 keywords, but for other keywords I am not sure.

For v2 images all keywords are working OK.

I can't understand how a company whose primary purpose is for buyers to find images, can't get their search engine to work properly.

The search engine is the lifeblood of the company.  V2 was released last June.  We are now approaching the anniversary of the V2 release in the next two months.  How could they still be having these issues?

Something is rotten in the state of Fotolia!

It's not all bad... inspite those problems Fotolia is my best earner. All images after V2 are working properly (99%). :) And those before, they are also working partialy, some keywords do, some dont......

Seems to be working now, but just the first seven keywords. At least some improvement.....so I´m uploading again.
