well i STILL have a few months to wait before i hit emerald, however i am looking forward to it quite a bit... and want to know how much i can look forward to it...

Anyone here recently switch to being emerald? .. and if you doubled the price of your photos did you get at 2x increase in revenue, or was it more like 1.5x or what?

I am about 200 dls from Emerald myself (with EastWestImaging) and will be requesting all files get upgraded to a min price of 2 credits. I expect to see at least 1.5x income, if not closer to 2. If the file is what the client is looking for, I can't see why they wouldn't pay 2 rather than 1, or 4 rather than 2 etc..

I've seen an 18-month earnings chart of one of our market's finest and the increase at Fotolia as he climbed the rankings was near-parabolic!  If you wonder how the people at the top make such amazing amounts, that is how. Fotolia's strategy is very clever in this regard - incentivising the top performers and making the rest of us work for it!

yeah, well it sure does look nice being able to raise your prices 2, 3, 4, 5x the original...

That is also why i really like dreamstime - that files price increase over time.

I have just become Rubis member and will "up-price" all my images to a starting point of 4 USD. Last time I did so, going from 2-3, I got a huge income boost. This month, IS and FT, are equal in earnings for me.

Haha... I'm not sure I'd win, I suck at FT. Especially, since they introduced subs, took away a lot of my credit sales  >:(

Congrats.

Do you experience loss in income since they introduced subscription?

I've been emerald for several months and increased my prices to a base of 2 as soon as I was able.  I noticed a near doubling of income.  I may have lost a few sales, but nothing significant.  I would say I increased my income there by a bit over 80%.

Looks like a long trek to sapphire and 3 credits though.  Not likely to reach it this year.

I am noticing a significant increase in subscription sales though lately, and there is no doubling of royalties on those.  Just getting .34, so that is bringing down my average.  They have been a solid 3rd in my % of income over the summer, but they may be taking a drop this month because of all the subs.

What do subs count toward your ranking there now?  Is it 1:4 or 1:1?

I believe it's 1:4. I'm getting more subs lately as well, which is not good. I wonder if FT took away some of SS customers?

Thanks for the clarification.  Better than nothing, but still disappointing.

I don't know for sure, but SS sales in August were down for me and this month they appear a bit stagnant.  Both Fotolia and StockXpert show a marked increase in subscription sales for me.

So either those customers are coming from SS or else they are coming from those sites' former pay per download customers.  Either way kind of a bummer.

Just reached it few weeks ago (but joined the forum only yesterday!  :) )   We have almost doubled earnings and it seems to us that emerald 'status' in some way make the portfolio more 'attractive' for buyers, as sales didn't decrease at all, despite the huge (100%) price increase.

So, will see you there at emerald in a while...   ;)

regards,
Val

Like Lisafx, my income is up roughly 80% since I hit emerald. Since that time FT has been my #1 earner and I don't think this with change anytime soon with the whole IS fiasco.  8)

how you people get your files aproved there? I seem to be a really crappy photographer for fotolia's taste. So without getting too much uploaded there I really don't see myself emerald in 5 years at least.

Hi Victoria,

I know your excellent photos from DT and I'm quite surprised of this your experience with FT. I think sometimes things don't work out well in some place and better forget about it.  Or... if you are stubborn, research reasons of this and work harder to get results. I could see you Emerald in one year, with your potential as a model/photographer and your talent. Just would need a clear aim and some strategies in place. Trust me, you could do that.  ;)

Val
