yeah, i wish i could change too.  Interesting they suggest starting a new account!

I wonder if there is any strategy in having 2 accounts.

It seems to be http://eu.fotolia.com/ equals to http://en.fotolia.com/, since the same title "Fotolia.co.uk" is on the window.

no, oleg thought I am new member. When I explained that I have few thousands images online, he said he is sorry but cant do it, but USD may rise some day....

I think it is NOT alowed to have 2 accounts.

Makes you think why it is a problem to switch over.
I wish they would change this.

Many of us from the Euro zone, when we signed up, were taken automatically to the US site and didn't give it much thought then.
If they have different  geographical sites , then why not have the relevant contributors in their respective zones.
It only makes sense!

Maybe contributors should campaign more for this.

I've asked the switch from US to IT some time ago and they told me it was not possible and that I had to start from scratch if I wanted. :|
Did you just contact support? I used the internal messaging system...

I used the internal messaging system to contact support as well. And they did it right away. I think they do not want to do it anymore, because they realize, they loose money by doing this. Currently with the Euro at $1.48 they have to pay Eurpean photographers 20% more than US photographers. The Euro has to go down to $1.2 Dollars until its about equal. Lets do hope the Dollar gets that strong or stronger, that would be great, since most of my income is form sites with $-currency ..

Even before they had BR Fotolia (which works in US$ and not our currency), I tried to change my US account to a UK account (because I have a bank account in UK), but they did not allow me to.

The right thing, though possibly complicated to administrate, would be paying according with the currency of the sale.  If I sold an image in DE I would get a different earning from the same image/size selling in UK or USA site.

do our images get the same search engine placement and visibility for all the different "versions" of fotolia (US,UK,eu...)?

I didn't quite understand, could you clarify a buit:

for instance if I sell a XL photo in US fotolia and another in EU fotolia how much exactly of each currency (how many $ and how many EUR) would I get from each sale?

I don't think that it's possible for the images to have the same placement in all the different versions: their translation tool is the worst ever! I'm with German Fotolia, and I don't think many English-speakers will find my images to buy them.

My zone is USA (although I'm in the UK. Didn't ever know I had a choice) and almost all of my sales go to customers in Europe. Might explain why I do better at Fotolia than most. My images are presumably cheaper than most.

Some agencies really treat their contributors as slaves who serve them to earn money. They put us is USA zone without giving us a choice, and now, when new contributors have a choice, we don't have it. It's not fair. One of my friend photographers told me once: "What? You are selling your photos as stock material? Poor..."
Maybe he has right...

Maybe I am wrong, but anyway  ::)

I am a FT member since the end of June. When I was registering myself I could choose the currency of my payments. I chose USD, because all other agencies were paying in USD.

Before FT introduced eu.fotolia, I was redirected to us.fotolia and since the change now I am automatically redirected to eu.fotolia. I think the site is automatically redirecting the user on some basis. Not really sure about the criteria.  ???

When I joined FT back in January 2006, somehow I ended up in the UK zone instead of the US.  They fixed it right away.  And then when v2 came out, my zone returned to the UK.  As soon as the dust settled, I requested to be changed back to the US and they fixed it right away.  So...I know firsthand that they can change zones.  Wonder why they are claiming they can't?  Very weird.

It's all a bit confusing. An explanation would help.

However since Fotolia outsells Dreamstime for me (and from the feedback I get most people have it the other way around), I'd rather be priced in dollars and get more sales than be priced in Euros and sell less. So right now I'm quite happy about it.

I tried that months ago and results were different in different sites.  My test was with two images, with very obvious keywords, and keyworded with the most relevant ones first.

for instance if I sell a XL photo in US fotolia and another in EU fotolia how much exactly of each currency (how many $ and how many EUR) would I get from each sale?

Your earning does not depend on the site the image was sold, but what site you are member of.

I believe they don't want people asking to change according to the exchange rate's fluctuations.  I think however one change every 2-3 years or something like that should be acceptable.

Adelaide

ok, thanks, but let me rephrase:

I am member of US zone Fotolia (although I live in Europe) and most of my customers (well there has been 16 of them total, I'm new) are European. Am I equally visible to european customers in english language european Fotolia and US customers in english language US Fotolia?

I would assume so.
Surely that would be the norm.

$ is falling down...down...down... and so our earnings are falling down..down..down... and Euro is stronger and stronger every day, and earnings of those who are in euro zone of Fotolia are also bigger and bigger...
