Title: Extended license sales and pricing
Post by: kacper on August 12, 2006, 08:52
How is everyone doing in the extended license department here and what are you pricing them at? Since going up to the next level, I popped all my extended licenses to $40. Not really a lot of money, but ever since I had none bought. I've had several previously purchased at $10 and $20 (which was pitifully low). Are designers so stingy they don't want to shell out $40?

I've had approx five ELs and it's a great surprise when they come in. I price them in the middle but thinking of making a blanket change to the highest price. I guess if someone wants the EL, what's $20 difference going to matter!

I hope you're right Phil, because I'm itching to raise the price again to $100...

Just had a Extended License sale at my new price so my cut was $39. SWEET! That pays for my beers tonight! (Sorry, can't contain the happiness!)

Anyone else having a run of EL sales today? I just had SEVEN in about ten minutes. Needless to say I am running around the house jumping for joy when not posting here.

It it's not prying too much, Phil, what kinds of images do you find get EL downloads at FT?

Group Business Shots mainly. But also one landscape picture of Perth at night. That shot was taken a long time ago with a Nikon F65 (cheap camera!) and Fuji Velvia slide film. The scan was from a Nikon Coolscan IV and looking back, it's definitely not of the standard I can now produce with the D2X. But if it sells, I ain't complaining!

Nice! I've had 5 within the past two days, I thought that would carry me to #1 for the week, but apparently not. Are you #1 this week?

The most promising thing about Phils 7 sales is not that he got 7, but that they stumped up a full$100 each for them (since he is on gold he can charge more and get a bigger cut).

This is promising as it means that people aren't looking just for ones with low prices (there are only three photographers who can charge $100???).

Nope, there are more than that, all the silvers can charge $100.

Got an EL today - my third at Fotolia.  My top price can only be US$20, but I'm happy.  It makes Fotolia now my 2nd best paying microstock site.

Adelaide

i had two el on the same day phildate did.  i charge the max of 100 as i feel any company buying image will probably be making quite a bit from my photo and  is still getting a bargain for a quality image.

I've had two in the last couple of days, on a couple of images that were already good sellers on there...

They were $10 sales, which is fine by me....
