Title: File declined (just to be) put in free section. Yeah right--->Delete!
Post by: wut on July 24, 2012, 10:13
So this is how the game is played now. Well not with me, I deleted it right away. And they just informed me via email the file was declined not also that it was put in the free section. Luckily they don't state which, so I checked it out on the site and deleted it. It has a blue dot next to it, instead of the standard green.

Did you forget to "un-check" that radio button during upload that says something along the lines of "offer it in the free section if rejected"?

My photos are so bad they even declined it for the 'free' section!  ;D

click_click: I've never seen it, I UL via flash interface, I'm pretty sure nothing like that appears over there. Or did you mean before you submit it (finish it, select categories etc)? Because I've never seen it there either... ???

The thing is, I liked that photo best of all, a candid natural shot, decently composed too. It's not something that would really sell in MS, but still (although they're telling us just that, but usually you need a cheesy smile from the models)

wut, it was brought up in another recent thread, here is a screen shot by rimglow that illustrates the problem:

Tnx for the screenshot, now that I've checked I can see I had exclusivity checked (they obviously reset it, since I had the no/yes/no chosen and never even looked at it while submitting)

All of those radio buttons used to be defaulted to "NO" but these days, as mentioned before, they appear to have a life on their own which screws things up for both contributors as well as Fotolia.

More work for everyone. No idea why that is...

Just uploaded a few and, not alone are the buttons defaulting to yes instead of no, but the EL price is defaulting to min price

Oh crap, I'm glad i checked this thread as the radio buttons are indeed defaulting to yes and by mistake i had one file selling as exclusive.

Not sure if defaulting to 'yes' was intentional or by mistake on fotolia's behalf.

Did anyone here actually notify Fotolia of this problem? I did when I first noticed it but apparently it's still causing problems.

Would be great if you guys could report it to FT so they can try to fix it.

The checkmarks are back to default for me but the extended price is set to 10.
I have reported the issue.

Just reminded me to change the EL price on my most recent approved files...

i always report problems to any agency before reporting them here

thiese and other continuing problems with editing on FT were reported but never got any response.

the bulk editing is still a mess - cant select, changes get lost, etc

As long as FT gets the notification - I don't expect FT to respond (would be nice though - anyone listening?) if it leads to the issues getting resolved I'm good.

They never ignored my support tickets, they told me the EL price was a bug and was fixed but it's still set to 10cr when uploading. Will be only a matter of time till they fix it I guess.
I've got to be honest, unlike others here I have never had issues with support or reviews on FT.
Also, I don't know what they did to the search engine but it's good to promote/sell new work (finally)

For now just take notice of those checkmarks (which is already fixed for me) and EL price when uploading.

they claim the reset was fixed, but i just tried to do some indiv edits right now [because the bulk edit is a broken mess], and it's defaulting to exclusive and free --- even after i submit one, it doesnt retain my last settings - it puts them back for the next edit

didnt think it could get worse, but today, it defaults to exclusive & free but doesnt even allow that to be chamged  -best guess is tech is hacking away and just releasing without regression testing

anyone else still having problems with default set to exclusive & free?   i've reported this 3 times now and each time they say it's fixed & close the case

it's still happening

also, the bulk editing  [indexing] doesnt work -- 'select all' wont

reset doesn't work for me. Default keeps going back to exclusive.  I Just deleted files they put in as exclusive and in the free section. It costs them money to do this. Inspection just to delete.

No, in my case only the extended price is set to back to default.

Wim:
Do you use Mozilla Firefox and Picniche?
Did you check the prices of extended licenses in another browser?
Lately I had the same problem (extended X set to default).
Contacting Fotolia they said that it was correct at their side.
At last I found out hat it was a wrong setting in Picniche on my computer.

When  indeed your settings are incorrect, send a mail to Fotolia and they put the settings right for you. They did that different times for me.

- Safari (Mac)
- I Have contacted FT about both issues, the Free/Exclusive issues were resolved but Extended X is still there (and very annoying)

Will contact FT again, thanks for the notice Colette

Pardon my ignorance I'm pretty new to FT but what should the EL price be??

As my good friend Luis points out, just set it at max.

regarding setting them to the max I have noticed different strategies, I have them at 50 but can have them at 100 as silver

I have seen silver and higher ranking having 20, 45, 85 and 95 (even one selling them for 10)

what works best? have no idea but EL ainīt the strong of them anyway

The ELs are still defaulting to 10 to me, so if they were going to fix it, they were full of it.

Same here but I'm already used to it ;) part of the upload process.
I hope this goes for everyone btw, that means big sellers too.

i just had another batch change its defaults without my noticing it, generating a bunch of free and 'exclusive' images

have to wonder whther they even HAVE a tech dept since they've claimed this bug to be fixed so many times!

They are complete whores, unethical, have incompetent reviewers and will die a quick death with their sponge policies.  My personal perception of FT is of a group of 2-3 people sitting in a dark, smoke filled room drinking and laughing, asking how they can further suck the life blood out of the contributor.  And they DESERVE this reputation.

just discovered yet anpother bug in their system -- if you upload any new images, the defaults revert to exclusive & free -- they're now claiming dozens of my images are exclusive and listing  them for free -- and of course their designers nevwer bothered to include a bulk delete function -- as a programmer, this is just ridiculous, but unfortunately more & more common -- incompetent designs are released & they expect users to debug the software

their support just sends a boilerplate saying they'll ask support and they then close the case without ever testing to see if anything's been fixed.

Just searched the forum as I am also having this added to free section problem. Just noticed the change to my defaults. Thanks for the posts. I thought I was doing something wrong.
