I've just noticed that there are now over 26K images from Corbis on Fotolia, priced from 25 credits for XS, rising to 655 credits for XXL and 930 credits for an EL. Here's the portfolio;

I really don't see the point in starting a microstock agency and then filling it with images that are way beyond the price bracket of your main product especially when there is no discernible difference in quality. It's like trying to sell Aston Martins alongside Skodas. What's worse is that FT have acknowledged the price-sensitivity of their customer base on several occasions of late.

Talk about playing straight into Shutterstock's hands. They'll be the only microstock agency left soon the way things are going.

I do find it slightly curious that FT have entered into an arrangement with Corbis though. Could they be lining up to join forces or a sale to Corbis? Could it have already happened on the QT?

They are there for a long time already. They are part of Fotolia Infinity collection which is for their premium content (seems to be analog for both Vetta and Getty RF)

Well, if you think how successful the Vetta collection is on istock, there seems to be a group of buyers that can pay for higher quality content and appreciate the preselection.

So I wouldnt be surprised if this special collection is doing well at fotolia.

Vetta is the one thing all exclusives I know are extremly satisfied with. And we are all trying to get more images in.

So please dont it deride as a failure if you have never experienced the power of those sales.

These images have been there since the beginning of the Infinite Collection.  Going on a few years now.

Yes, I've sorted them by date and seen that. I've also sorted them by downloads and they're not exactly flying off the shelves.

My infinite collection photos don't fly off the shelves either but the lack of quantity in the sales is definitely made up for with the higher sales and percentage.

Now that I'm thinking of it I really should shoot more aggressively with the Infinite collection in mind.

How do you get images into the Infinite collection? Do you have to be invited?

I was invited way back in the day.   You have to open a separate contributor account for Infinite.  I did a couple of shoots specifically for Infinite.  I couldn't get a single one of them accepted.

Uploaded to the regular collection instead and all were accepted and sell very well.  I haven't bothered with Infinite since, and nothing I have seen or heard about it convinces me I'm missing out on anything...

Thanks for that. Sounds like I'm not missing out on much!
