Could be some of the worst contributors nightmare, hope your portfolio will be unblocked and it's some kind of glitch!

What a total nightmare.

They didn't even let you know? Did they give you hint? is it copyright related?

Is your work still up there or on other sites?

Are your images still for sale at Fotolia?

Are you Muro on Fotolia? The portfolio is still there but I don't know if you can actually buy the images. That portfolio looks perfectly legit to me. Nothing obvious and looks consistent in style.

If they said nothing could it be just a technical glitch? Could you have been hacked?

ETA the only other thing I can think of is are those few vector traces from your own photos?

ETA, I believe the vector traces are of the photographer's own work.

Without knowing anything about your portfolio, if you have been with them for a decade and they suspend your account with no notice or warning, that seems really harsh. Doesn't a decade of being a contributor in good standing count for anything?

Have they given you any past warnings about submitting too many images that in their opinion are too similar to one another?

No Jo Ann, I was with Fotolia for 8 years with 7000 images, and I did not get a warning/notice - not even an explanation.

Are they giving you any chance to reason with them? Like delete content that is similar or anything?
It's a decade of work and I bet they benefitted just alright from your huge portfolio, not fair...

No need, it was during the DPC start-up, and I was one of the contributors they "let go" during the protest.

I realize Fotolia had many times shut down contributors over activity they weren't happy with - generally trying to improve terms for contributors. It is a huge surprise that a few duplicate images gets a whole portfolio shut down without warning.

Without more details, that seems to be a completely disproportionate reaction to a small and easily remedied infraction. Perhaps Mat could look into this and explain?

These types of random account closures should concern us all (not me directly as Fotolia refused to allow me to return - I asked) as people's livelihoods are just cut off with no explanation or recourse. It wasn't you this time, but with no process to protect contributors from arbitrary (as possibly just mistaken) actions, it could very well be next time.

And again we need "unity".

That's the FOTOLIA way. Although Adobe owns them, clearly Adobe does not mind their idiotic policy and the way they treat contributors.  Allowing the OLEG minions to keep running the joint tells me that Adobe really only cares about integrating the images into their products and far less about the substandard people, systems and infrastructure of FT itself. Mat simply cannot explain away the stupidity and arrogance of "the chad, for example, who makes and supports these policies.

I am so glad to be rid of these hacks.

She voiced an opinion on DPC that wasn't necessarily favorable to FOTOLIA so they retailiated by closing Ankyas account.

if they kick out someone who has many photos all the same then they should kick out also the reviewer who approved all that files.

Your logic is just stupid. You really expect for reviewer to check all the photos that are submitted if they are already online. What would then review time be? Half a year?

Then when agency rejects for similar people will complain they are different.

that is my first instinct, like joanne and canva.
but this way is a bit crass. if you do business that i-spit-in-your-face attitude
it can send a bad signal to everyone, like istock and sean locke and yuri.

it would be easier to just flip the switch and make sure you get zero days until you get pissed-off and bugger-off on your own... like it can be going on with ss and some old-timers here.
much like the way a forbes top corporation would do...
quietly ask you to pack up and leave suddenly. sure, the office will be gossiping of why you
suddenly left... but the whole world does not know that you suddenly decided
to go for a better job...
when in reality you could be out there selling organic veggies at a flea market
because you just lost your CEO paying position and top floor office
by doing something the company did not like.

Your logic is just stupid. You really expect for reviewer to check all the photos that are submitted if they are already online. What would then review time be? Half a year?

That isn't so far fetched. It isn't anything the reviewer has to do. If images come through with the same filename or the same title, etc. why couldn't it be checked? Early on, other agencies used to do that. I would submit a horizontal and a vertical format of the same image, taken at the same time in the 2 different formats. The titles, desc and keywords were the same, just different formats, and one would get rejected as a duplicate. I started changing the titles to get them approved, but the technology is there. Whether they choose to use it is another story. And clearly some of the agencies choose not to. How many ways can you title a picture of marijuana?  ;D
Title: Re: FOTOLIA account blocked without any reason NO clue as to why
Post by: Dumc on February 16, 2016, 15:01
Ofcourse reviewer will notice if you upload two identical images at the same time. But what, if you upload one today, second 5 months from now, third 10 months from now, and with a port of 15.000+ photos, how  is he going to check if those images were already upload? Of course its possible, but review time would take months.

Some software similar to google image search would be only solution...

Uploading same image twice can be mistake, but 4,5 times? And I'm not talking about similars or different post-processing but identical images.

That is really great. It is good they are taking more time and care than before. Now FL how about reviewing previous bans with a view to reinstating some of the users banned for voicing opposition to DPC on a case by case basis?

Some of them were long standing community members legitimately and quite politely stating their concerns, it would really show an improvement in contributor relations if you did this.

not sure if it is indeed a PR, or is it a damage-control  due to the exposure here ...
as i said previously, bad press or gossip in the office place is not what any proper corporation...

Might be right, if the FT hadn't warned for doing many of the same similars before. Alamy did that to one guy, he slammed them with 100 shots of the same set, just shoot, shoot, shoot. They closed his account. Why would we want too many similar when we complain about too many similar. Which is it?

Nice models and many nice photos on FT muro. Account restored. Good ending muro.

Tell me just one thing. Isn't it a Fotolia reviewer's job to select what fits and what do not? Contributors PROVIDE content. That's what they do. Reviewers SELECT what fits Fotolia needs. I hope they get exact instructions regularily. At least, contributors do not receive any instructions, or even clear explaination of rejects. I literally have no idea, if I upload similars or just a series. It's not my job to decide. My job is to upload and keep the quality high.
I heard about at least two more bans with this reason. They are crazy, we must explain it to them somehow.

I think my account might be blocked too. Since joining Fotolia I've had downloads almost constantly but suddenly none for two weeks. I had rejections of some similar files but no warnings. I've still had views every day but no downloads. Has anyone had this happen? I didn't realise similar files were a problem and Fotolia has been a good site for me and sells different images to SS.

A few years ago, I didn't go to no sales but they did a good job of hiding my portfolio.  No idea why that happened.  Most sites I have steady sales but FT fell off a cliff and never recovered.

I recently rejoined fotolia after closing my acct a few years ago, sales were poor and not worth the time to add categories -- wanting mostly to sell footage now

last weekend I uploaded about 25 videos to 4 diff sites, setting up an overnight ftp run -- on FT multiple copies of the files appeared on the site.  my acct was blocked with no explanation and no reply to email; PLUS multiple videos that had previously been accepted were now suddenly rejected -- with their useless message 'somethings wrong with your file and here are 10 or more things that might be the reason'

I'm hoping it's just the ebbs and flows and things will be back to normal soon. My approval rating slipped just under 50% with two uploads being mostly rejected. Maybe that is a reason too. I can't find any policy about acceptance percentages.
