Title: Fotolia and me?
Post by: ruigsantos on September 08, 2011, 05:28
I'm trying to figure out what sells on FT with no luck. I'm new to this game, my sales and climbing in SS and DT but I can't sell anything in FT with the same portfolio. What do you think works best there?

It's really hard to tell.  I can tell you that on other sites, I sell a broad range of subjects from my port daily with some star-players streaking ahead of the rest.

On FT, I sell a small proportion of my port, and only those same images sell over and over again.  They're not ones that do well on other sites either.  My best seller by far on a multitude of other agencies sells nothing at FT.

The only useful info I can glean from my own experience is that Europe-centric subjects seem to do a lot better there.

Thanks. What do you mean by "typically European images"? Landscapes? Popular landmarks?

 :D

I just edited that line as you were posting, in case it was taken the wrong way.

Yes, European landscapes, foods, interiors etc.  But also try universal concepts and objects that could apply equally to the European and US market.  Perhaps I should have said 'Non-US-specific' rather than 'Europe-centric'.
