Title: Fotolia officially closed
Post by: thx9000 on November 05, 2019, 08:20
So now that Fotolia is gone I remember this thread from january :
https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/better-contributor-site-adobe-stock-vs-fotolia/50/ (https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/better-contributor-site-adobe-stock-vs-fotolia/50/)
Other than the it been slightly more responsive, has anything other been improved on AS's contributor site since then?
I got lucky yesterday been able to enter the exact amount to be withdrawn but now this FT feature is gone.
Also it's still ridiculous to make two extra clicks every time you check your latest activity.
What happened?

Agreed.  The AS website might be prettier, but the FOT website was more functional.

Agreed. The only big problem with the Fotolia contributor site was that thumbnails were way to small, sometimes i struggled to recognize images. But functionally it was better than almost any stock site i've ever seen.

But i'm missing the big size credit sales even more than the user interface

I'm missing the ranking system, the sales data on each image shown on public...

but I don't miss the difficult upload method in Fotolia...

You mean the number of times an image sold? I don't think the number of sales should be visible to the buyer, no need to show that.

Adobe Stock has a long way to go on the contributor side, Fotolia was great in that regard, but it's getting there.

AS are getting better but I do miss not being able to search my portfolio...by keyword rather than id number. That makes no sense as I'd need to find the file first to know what the id number is.

Still can't quite get used to seeing earnings in £'s instead of $'s. Even though my currency is £'s, I'm so used to seeing earnings in $'s it's weird seeing it any other way.

It's been a very quiet today in terms of sales at AS, hopefully they're not having any problems. Or, more importantly, clients aren't having problems. It's been very good of late and hoping it stays that way  ;D

You can search your portfolio by keyword click the link on the left of the screen marked "My Portfolio" it takes you to your public profile then you can enter search terms in the search bar at the top of the page.

The search then provides matching images in your portfolio only

Cheers... I could be wrong, but, you can't add files to collections from the search results. If I make a collection to, "Feature", I'd like to search the files and then select and add them to a collection. Am I missing something here or is that not possible?

https://stock.adobe.com/search/images?creator_id=

You can search your own with a little effort.

You need to add your ID number and then bookmark. That's my bookmark, minus my ID number. I don't know if there's anywhere on the contributor panels, I just use that one, that I created myself. I'd do that for anyone who's not anonymous, otherwise no way to help past that link.  :)

If you click that link above, you will need to add =######### for example = plus your ID number, or it won't work.

If you copy and paste the link, the = stays, just add your ID number

No, this is not "searching" in my portfolio.
This is watching my portfolio (and this I know how to do it from the first day of Adobe Stock)
When I say "searching" I mean writing in a field a word or a short phrase that will return all the corresponding images, and only those images.
For example if in the search field I write banana it should show me all my images with the keyword "banana" or "banana" in the title (as you can do with the catalog manager in Shutterstock).
I find it unacceptable that a company like Adobe, which claims to be at the forefront of technology, cannot do so.....

It's incredible how so many people here can't figure out how to search in their own portfolio. Seriously it's not rocket science.

Go to your account page at this link https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/account

Then click on "see my public profile", then type banana in search and only your bananas will show up. Hope we are  all happy monkeys now.

I think you missed the point, people want to actually do something with the results not just browse their past triumphs.

You have made an additional point.

I was answering the following, "I do miss not being able to search my portfolio...by keyword rather than id number."

and "When I say "searching" I mean writing in a field a word or a short phrase that will return all the corresponding images, and only those images."

A portfolio search is possible but only in the frontend, as Uncle Pete says, bookmark your link.

I was hoping they would forget to close FT as I don't like using the AS site. It's the most frustrating site of them all, why under 'my statistics' does it default to top sellers!! A simple remember last settings would save me 9 clicks every time I refresh the page. Also, is there a way to see what files have sold on a particular day because I've given up searching for it!

It's incredible how some people here can't figure that if someone wants to do a search in his own portfolio, it's to have the ability to quickly find an image so he can delete it, or change the title, keywords, etc...

Of course if I go to https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/portfolio I can see my portfolio and edit the data, but to find an image I can only do it "visually" by scrolling through my entire portfolio from the beginning, until I find the image I'm looking for. It can be extremely long when you have 20000 images in your portfolio....

Why on earth should I look at my portfolio just for the pleasure of seeing that the images it contains are the ones I know it contains?  ::)

@Chichikov To find an image to edit it or delete it, search in your portfolio (using a relevant keyword), get the Id number, then enter the Id number in "Search by content Id", which is in your dashboard. Then delete the image or edit as you wish.

Asfaik most sites don't have a search for images which aren't online yet, but the above method is pretty simple to find and edit individual images in your AS portfolio.

Hope this helps.

So when I want to create a new collection, I have to go to the portfolio page, search by keyword, write down the ID number, go to my files and search the id number and add it to a collection. Rinse and repeat the 60+ times to add all the files.

Sounds so much better than search files by keyword, ticking all the files returned by the search and add to collection.

This isn't a problem about files not online, it's a problem when dealing with a large batch alteration... whether that's creating a new featured collection, edit keywords or delete.

Bookmark this URL:

And then you can see recent sales with one click
Even if the selection box at the top will say "Top Sellers" even when you open it this was, actually results "Activity" will be shown immediately

I have no idea about collections, @Chichikov said he could not find and edit/delete individual images because he can't find them, when in fact it is possible to find images with keywords. No need to write down the Id. use copy/paste.

I'm not responsible for the way AS works but it's been said several times in this forum that there is no method to search ones own portfolio. And I'm just saying there is a way.

A lot of us understand we can search our ports but we can't do anything with the results. If you want to amend one file then the methods you describe are ok but when you have a port 10k, 20k or 50K+ and need to edit files in any volume then the current method is not much help.

FT did and SS does have keyword search facilities that allow you to edit and not just look at the results of the search... so, hopefully AS will do something about this as it is an important feature.

This is the most important for all contributors for sure. We need to see LIVE sales on the page, no refreshes no menus, clicks, no complications. In Shutterstock I have one tab for it opened and I just look at that tab to see my sales in real time on the map, just a perfect.

You can search your portfolio by keyword click the link on the left of the screen marked "My Portfolio" it takes you to your public profile then you can enter search terms in the search bar at the top of the page.

The search then provides matching images in your portfolio only

Yes, that does work. Thanks so much for posting that tip!

It's a bit of a cumbersome work-around, having to do that just to find an image # to input, but for sure it beats having to flip through dozens or scores or hundreds of 100-thumbnail pages searching for the one you want to edit.

It is do-able, and I'm happy with that.

So now that Fotolia is gone I remember this thread from january :
https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/better-contributor-site-adobe-stock-vs-fotolia/50/ (https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/better-contributor-site-adobe-stock-vs-fotolia/50/)
Other than the it been slightly more responsive, has anything other been improved on AS's contributor site since then?
I got lucky yesterday been able to enter the exact amount to be withdrawn but now this FT feature is gone.
Also it's still ridiculous to make two extra clicks every time you check your latest activity.
What happened?

In last two days I got only subs.. No video sales anymore.. Is this connected with fotolia closure or just coincidence. Anyone else with same experience?

Yes. It's been very quiet since the 5th. There was a bit of a boost in DLs prior to the 5th and now very little in terms of value... small value sales only. I'm hoping this is just a settling in period and once clients etc get used to working with only AS... otherwise, it doesn't look great!

Hope this helps.

lol
It helps, yes thank you, but to tell that it is "pretty simple" is an euphemism…

Sure, you have to remember the other sites have been here years longer than AS and they improved over quite a long time. AS will make it more proficient in time. Glad I wasn't missing the point and you can now do what you intend to do.

Hi All,

Just a quick note as I'm currently traveling and haven't been able to check MSG as much as I prefer. Especially during this momentous week.

I started submitting photos to Fotolia in 2006 and it will always hold a piece of my heart. Over the years there were many changes but one thing remained consistent. The passionate and strong community of artists that made Fotolia a tremendous success and ultimately created what is now Adobe Stock. While I am sad to see Fotolia go, I am overwhelmed with optimism and excitement about the future of Adobe Stock.

I recognize there were features and conveniences you preferred at Fotolia over the contributor portal. I fully comprehend the pain points you have referenced here and in other threads. I communicate on a very regular basis with the broader team at Adobe with the information and feedback you provide. I can assure you 100% that we are continuously working to improve the experience for you all and functionality will continue to improve.

Thank you so much to all the phenomenal people in this community that have been an active part of Fotolia for your feedback and your passion. I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with you all at Adobe Stock!

As always, you are welcome to contact me directly via email [email protected] with any questions, comments or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mat Hayward

I was hoping they would forget to close FT as I don't like using the AS site. It's the most frustrating site of them all, why under 'my statistics' does it default to top sellers!! A simple remember last settings would save me 9 clicks every time I refresh the page. Also, is there a way to see what files have sold on a particular day because I've given up searching for it!

Bookmark this URL:

https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/insights/sales-earnings

And then you can see recent sales with one click
Even if the selection box at the top will say "Top Sellers" even when you open it this was, actually results "Activity" will be shown immediately

This seems to do the trick, thanks

You forgot the Dollar Photo Club debacle which probably was the worst thing Fotolia could have done

Haha, yes, thats why on fotolia/above i don't have about 1500 of my images, and now way i would figure out which ones to reupload them. That D-Day was something.
