Anyone who still has photos in DPC is guilty of helping to bring down prices and assisting in ruining our industry. With most agencies, extended licenses, one off downloads etc can boost your average download royalty. DPC does not offer this potential.Fotolia are taking us all for idiots and thankfully many people won't tolerate this and have opted out. It doesn't matter what size your portfolio is, there is no economic reason to remain opted in.

All SS would have to do Legally, is offer a Exclusive Option with a few cents more. I would accept. Time is money and If I stopped taking all the time it took to upload to 9 agencies. I would win based on that alone. Im sure that would kill FT.

Strewth. I just found myself actually agreeing with and Hearting a post from Mr Rinder.  Whatever next?

Doesn't DT let you opt in any image you like as exclusive? I don't do it very often.

I'm still getting some 40 cent subscription downloads, in spite of the fact that I've opted out of the DPC. How can I verify that my images are no longer available in the DPC?

Please look at the last line of the first post in this thread: http://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/how-to-opt-out-of-dollar-photo-club/msg380052/?topicseen#new

I checked my OPT OUT in DPC manually. Search for some of the most popular of your images. After OPT OUT, it takes about 4 to 5 days for them to be removed from DPC. The images are present in searches a little longer. If you click on them, you get the message "Image not available".  My experience is about 3 to 4 weeks ago.

I see that some contributors are confused and think that the new higher commission rates only apply if we are in the DPC and/or that this raise applies to all subscription sales. But this is not the case.

We are now getting 20% commission rate if we are opted out of DPC (and 25% commission rate for those opted in). And this raise affects only some of the monthly subscription packages, not all subscriptions. For example, in the $25 monthly subscription for 5 XXL images, we used to get an appalling flat rate of 5-8% commission from 0.25 to 0.40 credits depending on ranking and now we are getting 20% (or 25% if we are in the DPC) of the price paid for a subscription download.

Allsa, to check if you are opted out of the DPC go to Fotolia website: My Account > My Profile > Contributor Parameters. The text should read "Don't sell my files on DPC". If it says "Sell my files on DPC" and you want to opt out, follow these steps:

To opt out of the DPC: My Account > My Profile > Contributors Parameters > Sell my files on DPC - Modify (Click "Modify" and make sure the text now reads "Don't sell my files on DPC") and Save parameters.

I too agree with rinder and mr. G. But I would have to make several thousand a month to make it doable. I know a couple of CEOs who said one thing in the past only to do another years later because the business conditions create the strategic need. This is in reference too oringer stating they would never do exclusivity. He could shut out a lot of good content on other sites if his terms for exclusivity were good. I have a lot of niche images that only shutterstock would have that sell all the time.
