I couldn't care less about them being investigated for fraud. I couldn't care less if they definitely sink. Maybe if they fail, other fairer agencies (like 123RF or canstock) could raise
Seems like they have removed lots of user accounts keeping users earnings

Do they have a good reason for closing these accounts? My only complaint about fotolia so far is that they have lowered commissions and changed the levels for us to get a commission increase. I still use them because they still pay higher commissions than istock and they have lots of buyers.
Will be interesting to know what reasons they are giving for doing this.

I have my first payout pending since yesterday and I've uploaded a lot in the last month, so I hope it doesn't go south.

From amplicate website
.......3) If they closed your account probably they did that for copyright infringement.
They are changing politics there, so if you are an illustrator(for photos is very rare) control your portfolio and delete as fast as you can all images that look strange or you are not sure.
I also think that all blocking of accounts have something to do with copyright infrngement.
I agree with sharpshot "My only complaint about fotolia so far is that they have lowered commissions and changed the levels for us to get a commission increase". So far I never received my money later that seven working days after pushing "convert credits" button.

What is this?

Why does it say "by Thomas A" and link to my Facebook page ? I never had my account blocked and I never said that ???
-
Okay I just noticed the Facebook page isn't mine, apparently it's a copy of mine. Someone actually created a false Facebook page and Amplicate profile to badmouth Fotolia in my name
Why would anyone do that? ???

Are you saying that they ARE being investigated for fraud or SHOULD be investigated for fraud?

Now that's really strange - sounds like someone has started a smear campaign against Fotolia.

they ARE being investigated

Hmmmm, is it actually true that the blocked all those accounts (1000 according to link), or is this all by one disgruntled contributor faking the rest of the posts, like they did with Thomas'?
Can anyone name a few of those with closed accounts, maybe with links to their portfolios on another sites?

Yes. The post is actually by another MSG user and from 2009:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/my-account-blocked-help (http://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/my-account-blocked-help)!/msg106131/#msg106131
The post from the day before "my" post is also from 2009 and from an MSG user:

Here's one more from 2009:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/forums/archive.php?topic=7297.0 (http://www.microstockgroup.com/forums/archive.php?topic=7297.0)
But they are all posted in 2011 on Amplicate. Apparently all these posts are made by one pathetic loser who doesn't realize this can have huge consequences for the persons he's pretending to be.
I've contacted Facebook and Amplicate.
I'd advise anyone to check if their names are being misused

Probably the Facebook API at work. The webpage is probably making a call to display your Facebook info to you only - web page owner can't access it. Most likely nothing to worry about. Just don't add anything/submit the Facebook module and nothing will be added to your Facebook.

But I actually did a Facebook search on my complete name and found two different profiles, my own and the fake one that I don't have access to because it's not a "friend" of mine - this profile has my image. I reported the fake profile to Facebook.
Just to be sure I tried changing my profile picture, and it only changed on my own profile, not the fake one.

Maybe, you have an evil twin?

Against my better judgement, I visited that Amplicate page, and they are indeed making heavy use of the Facebook API. However, if you went to Facebook directly and found the bogus profile, then you are probably correct in contacting Facebook. Strange.
-
Maybe that disgruntled person create a profile in your time to try and sneak onto the Fotolia facebook page and try and post stuff since his other account are apparently blocked from the FB fotolia page.
-
This is really scary Thomas. Hope you contact Fotolia, if you haven't already, so that your account is not closed in retaliation for this smear campaign that you have nothing to do with! :o
-
This is strange. I wouldn't be surprised if this alter ego would sell your stolen images or at least copies of them.

My thought exactly.

I remember this happened to someone on Shutterstock a few years ago, someone opening an account in the name of an existing contributor to sell stolen images.

And remember the Travis Manley sucks (or something like that) thread where he found a website smearing him for selling micro, and it was registered to someone pretending they were another photographer.
