Title: Fotolia watermark: worst watermark ever??
Post by: PedroV on September 26, 2009, 13:33
I find fotolia watermark the worst agency watermark ever, this caused a lot of polemic at the forums 1 year ago but they haven't changed it...

This has been brought up for years at FT forum and here (eg: http://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/new-fotolia-watermark/ (http://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/new-fotolia-watermark/)).

It's clear they don't bother and won't change it.

Personally I think Veer has the worst watermark - the only purpose it serves is to advertise their site rather than offer any sort of protection to the image.

The standard preview/watermarked image on Veer is about 400px, which is pretty much the same dimensions as a 1 credit file (Xsmall) on iStock - so what's to stop someone downloading it free on veer rather than purchasing it legitimately? It would only take a couple of seconds to crop/clone the corner.
