I don't know who mj007 is or where he/she lives, but I have noticed that it's usually people who live in the taker states and use our "socialist" programs the most who yell the loudest about "socialism." I rarely hear anything about fear of "socialism" from the giver states that pay the most in federal taxes and prop up the taker states...in fact, we're willing to pay a little more for the betterment of society, and that includes helping the "socialists" who are currently using up the tax dollars we're already donating to them but are simultaneously terribly afraid of so-called "socialism."

Texas...We have a great economy. Our unemployment is almost zero. The housing prices are going up because of all the California folks moving to Texas. Why move to Texas, We have jobs, no State income tax, cheap housing cost and we love and carry guns. The folks that are moving to Texas which is about 50,000 people a month love the fact they can buy a 4000 sq foot home under 300K. Try that in California.

Texas gets about $1.40 back in federal benefits for every $1.00 paid in federal tax. Taker state. That's why you can buy a house dirt cheap there...we're supporting you. California gets 90 back for every dollar. Giver state. Delaware gets back less than 50 per dollar. Giver state. New Jersey, where I live, gets back 85. Giver state. New York, 80...giver state. You suck up all our tax dollars and then whine about socialism. I say secede and fend for yourselves.

What % do  you pay in State and local income tax in New Jersey  ? What dose this state tax do for you.

What dose this state tax do for you.

I'm assuming it covers all the socialist initiatives... and the rest goes to Texas to cover theirs.

I do know what I am talking about. Sean try paying 70% of tax on what your income is. That is what the New Socialist Dems want. They have even stated that amount. Comrade Bernie will need at least 70 % to pay for all your student loans, free college for future student ,free heath care for all including illegals. 70% may in truth be low for the Socialist Dems. Yes I forgot the New Green Deal. You will not be able to use anything but solar or wind power. Who will pay for this yo Sean..it is Socialism.
Literally none of what you said is correct.  Again, sorry.  It's like I'm reading one of the crazy emails my relatives send me.

I applaud Sean's maturity. I was about to try and give ELI5 explanation of how tax bands work etc. but you're absolutely correct Sean. It would be a waste of time. If someone wants to claim 70% taxation rates are on the cards for the US it's up to them to provide the evidence.

Jezz I hate to try to drag this topic away from politics and hate, but maybe we might discuss, how this could change IS and SS as well, as they are US companies? You know, make it about Microstock?

I feel sorry for the contributors who will be penalized for this, and wonder what will happen when things change back. What a mess.

On the other hand, the United States, not the President, has decided that ...The Maduro dictatorship continues to deprive the Venezuelan people of food and medicine, imprison the democratically elected opposition, and violently suppress freedom of speech.

Reminder: US President Barack Obama imposes more sanctions on Russia. President Barack Obama has said the US is moving to impose additional sanctions on individuals linked to Russia's annexation of Crimea. Obama imposed sanctions on North Korea. During the Obama administration there were other countries, Iran for one, that the government forbid, US companies from doing business.

Weren't there people here who had their SS accounts closed back then, and people who couldn't join the US agencies to sell stock?

Yes, I wondered this too, if Shutterstock was also closing accounts, or if it was just Adobe. I guess those in countries being sanctioned will only be able to work with istock (are they US or Canadian?)  and a couple others. Which in itself is punishment. :(

I've read a couple of different news reports where people were questioning if Adobe was being overly zealous in responding to the sanctions. Meaning, there could have been room for them to interpret the sanctions differently. Though sometimes it is better to be safe than sorry.

At least Adobe will refund money for unused subscriptions (seemed pretty outrageous that at first they wouldn't). If other large tech companies are continuing to offer cloud services, why the difference with Adobe?

Ordinary people are disposable for governments. It seems to have always been that way. Ordinary people are simple pawns that are sacrificed in their chess game.

Socialism starts out with noble intentions, preying on the envy of the population( American Democrats) to let the government level the playing field with promises of equality and more government support. But, the quest for power (and corruption that always comes along with it), coupled with the impossibility of having a small number of people efficiently allocate resources, leads to the same outcome every time. Venezuela, Cuba, China case in point.

One might modestly suggest that you look first to your MAGA leader when talking about "the quest for power" and "the corruption that always comes along with it."  :D

Sean I have been to all those places. Very high taxes, some have free health care but poor care. Many of those people with money come to America to get great heath care. Even Mic Jagger came to California to get his heart worked on. He is from the UK and they have really poor free health care. Not even sure if Mic would have been cover because of his old age in the UK.  Sean it seems you clearly like Socialism in America. That is your right. For me Socialism is just a pre- word for communism. Sean is the world going to come to an end in twelve years for our abuse of the pollution in the world. You don't even need to answer that, AOC says it will come to an end.....We all know AOC is so smart...

Canada has very good healthcare. I know because I experience it, and I haven't had to sell my home to pay for it. The only out of pocket expenses for three different surgeries has been parking.

Change "socialism" to "subsidy" or "bailout" or "corporate tax break" and see how quickly the those pesky anti-socialists change their tune...

According to the Fraser Institute report...  Canadians who need medically necessary surgeries waited longer than ever for treatment with average wait times hitting 20 weeks, a new Fraser Institute report concludes.
