Title: How is your December
Post by: Stephan on December 31, 2019, 05:57
Is it just me, or do you have similar graphs?

Similar, the month ended Dec. 23rd. Not totally unexpected, the holidays are placed Mid-week, which makes for much less business days. Jan 5th, should we get a boom as places catch up on what they've been neglecting?  8)

I haven't made a graph, but I quess it would look similar.

Relative to SS sales, my AS sales have always been lower than in the poll here at MSG. Normally AS gives me about half of SS. But the last two months, is has been less than 1/4.

The graphic comes from Adobe, it's a screen shot.

For me adobe was pretty solid till september..then it slowly declined month by month..
Do you guys know when the indexing change did start??maybe this could be the reason...
I only sell footages...

Same.  A little discouraging.

If there was a "re-indexing" to video, and if this "re-indexing" uses AI to determine rank, and if that AI uses the thumbnail to determine quality and relevance of the video clip, that's seriously unfortunate and unfair since we're not able to (yet) change our thumbnail.

And the default "middle position" thumbnail is often not the best frame to represent clips.

A very good month, because usually December is bad because of the holidays. I had good sales on Christmas week.

Good month for me straight through the month until Christmas, when it (predictably) dropped. I'm not worried.

Actually - I think all of your graphs are wrong.
My graph also shows no sales this week, when in fact I have 3 so far.
The AS graph has not updated or is inactive this week.
AS: any explanation?

I think Mat said they will be "closed" for the holidays.

I looked back and I also have 0 sales listed for the first week of 2019 on some of the graphs despite sales during that time, I notice some discrepancies between local time and dates and whatever time and dates Adobe uses, so maybe that explains things as it gets weirder when the date changes?

Let's hope they didn't turn all the computers off when they left  ;D

I'm another who has had a few sales this week between Christmas and New Year's Eve (today). THey show up in my earnings tally but not on the graph.

Again, I'm not worried.

December for Adobe Stock was terrible.... as in, earrings the lowest I've seen in 4-5 years. It seems like payback for a BME in Oct. Hopefully it picks up as I don't think I could stomach another month like December. Everywhere else was normal, just AS that collapsed.

When I looked through the carnage of December at AS, the one thing that stood out was a drop in Footage / Larger value sales. If they've done this "Re-indexing" on footage and with FT closing last month, it could have produced the perfect storm. Can't believe you still can't select the thumbnail, surely that must help them and the customer not just us.

Actually - I think all of your graphs are wrong.

Yes, seeing the same thing. Something would appear to be broken there.

I have earnings added for that week but the graph hasn't been updated. December was a good month for me above my 12 month running average. The last three months have been decent after a dip.

Trend is similar - a significant drop in buying activity in the second half, but, overall, for me Dec 2019 is BME

December was perfectly normal. The last week of December is by far the slowest, but no surprise there.

Started off 2020 with a nice video sale, so buyers are back!

Edit 12 hours later: THREE video sales!

Exact same here.  Woke up this morning to a $70 commission sale.

Vacations are over.

Yes, the graphs are wrong. I'm told this will be fixed on January 9 followed by a permanent fix to prevent it from happening again when 2021 rolls in.

Thanks for your patience and Happy New Year!
