I tried uploading some images directly to Adobe instead of through fotolia.
Now I am getting an email asking for a government ID- should not his have been done when I synched the accts? Is this a scam/hack email?

A government issued photo ID card is required to be a contributor at Fotolia/Adobe Stock.

What the OP is suggesting is that they already have a Fotolia account so why would they need to submit ID if they are already a Fotolia contributor and want to sync to an Adobe account?

Matt, I already submitted my ID to fotolia ages ago that was accepted. My fotolia was synched to Adobe back when you asked us to do it and I have already received several payments. So now why is Adobe asking for one?
It seems like spam because there is no reason to ask for it now.

Correct, it should be sync with adobe. But if they are asking you can re-submit it again, not a big deal.

From what email address did they send you the email?

You should email or call adobe support, or email Mat directly and ask him to check it. Do not reply to or do anything with the email you received, in case it is someone phishing. No one here can sort it for you, except Mat, and it might be quicker to correspond directly with adobe.
