I was looking at something else entirely (checking on some search problems) when I noticed this image of a very old laptop in the Infinite collection - this one starting at $50 for an XS. It looked like a rather poor quality shot as well as old, but when I used the zoom to see the details it looked like a pointillist painting.

I'm not eligible to submit to the Infinite collection yet, and I know there'd been some talk when this started up about the truly horrible clunkers that had found their way in, but it seems to me that it's not good for Fotolia as a site to have this kind of rubbish there. Sales there have been strong, and perhaps there's an argument to be made that these overpriced relics from some purchased collection will just help sell the regular priced stuff.
I think that having Fotolia's overall reputation as a site you go to for quality product at fair prices necessitates that they just get rid of this sub-standard stuff. Andres Rodriquez has said in another thread that he intends to submit only to the higher priced collections - if I were him, I wouldn't want my quality work sullied by buyer's reactions to the old rejects that Fotolia acquired externally.

I could go on, but the point is that I think Fotolia needs to clean this collection up before buyers get too good a look at it.

That site is a little messed up right now. If you search "beach woman" the number 3 picture under relevance is a girls butt cheeks spread wide open. Something like 14,000 views and very few downloads. I think they have some software issues.

If this wasn't so laughable I'd be disgusted .... almost as disgusted as I am with some of the crap that gets passed review for IS exclusives ::) .... but then none of this stuff can be selling, right ?? So its not hurting any one here? Or is it ???

I haven't read about what it takes to get to the Infinite collection, but isn't there any inspection? I would understand if these examples were old images "promoted" to a new status (though they would still be unwanted in a collection that should be the créme de la créme of the site), but given their ID numbers, they're recent.

The shame is that potential clients can come to the site see this cr*p selling for 500$ and not bother to look further.

The infinite collection, at least in its beginnings, are/ were a so called TPRF-collection from some macro site. If a collection like this arrives at the end of its contract it just gets handed down to the next site. Some of this images are stone-old and completely out-dated. Fotolia would have spend their money better by building up an own premium collection from the images of its best submitters instead of acquiring this crap! Just like 123rf does at the moment with its EVO-collection. Just my 2cents, SY

Yes, I thought that too. Contributors are ashamed of showing those images, so they rather remain incognito. :)

Can a photo buyer get a complimentary download of one of these $500 photos and see how it looks in print? Or see how it works with their design?
Would they respond to email from a buyer requesting something like this? They don't respond to any other emails.

i find customer service with fotolia to be suspect at best. its just me though, i'm having issues with them rejecting everything under the sun because they have an 'overabundant photo category'
