Many here praised the FT sales in January, is it still going good for you?

For me (a small port of travel photos) that "on fire" thing stopped somewhere in late December.
September to December was a good time, with ups and downs sometimes, but overall I felt that nice tendency of sales going up, good ratio of credit sales too. But for almost 2 months now I keep getting half of downloads per week compared to what I had before.
I also noticed that the new content stopped selling too, older files sell instead (just like it happened with SS in August or so)

How is it for you?

While January was one of my best months, February is complete oposite. As if sales dried up over night. It looks like it's going to be one of my worst months. Also almost no credit sales, which I had almost on daily basis before. I don't know, what's going on there.

Not on fire but still creating almost three times as much heat as SS, which is not at all a difficult task because my earnings on SS are miserable lately with more files online. I had a peak in December on FT, than January was lower, which is normal for me. February looks promising till now, also no 0 days on weekends.

Fotolia has been outdoing Shutterstock for me.

For me it is better too in another important area.  I am often selling the kinds of images I love to make. Artist first over stock photographer. so happy about that.  I get kind of bored with the SS look.  FT has not caught up to my best selling agency but if the trend gets better, might dump SS and just stick to 2 agencies down the road so I have more time to photograph.

5000k images. This month looks certainly worse than Jan.

New content seems to be selling much better. I haven't observed this in the past, but recently, almost all my sales are new content.

Same here
It seems that more the image size is big, more the commission is low

Actually I am selling almost only old images

Not exactly on fire but doing significantly better than previous years and fighting for second place with Canva.  I haven't submitted anything in over a year so it is not due to new files.

I have a very small port on FT after re-joining late last year. Making payout much faster than in the past with fewer files. Hoping to get my entire SS port up there eventually though they have rejected a bunch of my light blurs and similar backgrounds which are strong sellers for me elsewhere, and of course they don't take editorial images.

Overall, it has been worth the effort.

January was a BME which is pretty good going in my 6th year with FT (2,300 pics) Took a couple of ELs to make it though - rarer than Melo Melo pearls

Is there some actual boycott list? And does everyone who posts here have to follow it?.  News to me.

It's been a good month on FT. I never imagined I'd be in this position when I first started uploading about 8 months ago. Really gives me incentive to see how much  further I can climb.

The first rule of the boycott list is  ;D  ;D

In all honestly though it seems that deposit was one of the agencies that got a ton of hate from the group

FT got a lot of hate as well...

Almost every agency got a lot of hate from the group at some stage.

This has become avery negative group. Always makes me wonder why people bother with microstock at all if they hate it that much...

FT is doing well by the way. I am not seeing a huge rise but clearly an upward trend.

Who hates Microstock? I thinK the problem is with what the agencies have been doing to us, contributors.

Do you hate chocolate in itself, just because they use child slave labor in many of the cocoa plantations?

As for FL, despite having a 70% drop in income from 2010 to 2014, in 2015 (due to the last months of the years) it grew about 25%. And this year I've doubled what I earned in January of 2015 and already passed about 25% of what February of last year gave me.

So, until now I see a clear recovery form FL. Still an Everest away of 2010 but doing better. In 2016 it's my second best agency, but there's a long year still ahead and it's possible that it ends up being 4th or 5th.

For some of you newer folks.... Fotolia has been around a long time and, Has had issues and hard times also a Large drop in sales just like all the other sites which started in 2012. Has it come back to the good days?  No where near [For me] But since adobe took Over things have improved a lot and in proportion of the past.

It may take a while to get back to the better days. Or the better days are gone for all sites and some of you Missed the boat as it left the dock a long time ago. Us old timers really felt the ground move awhile back. We all had very strong days. Lots of EL's and SOD's also then BAM. The door shut, The switch was pulled. The entire industry went south. I see Fotolia as a Player again for the first time in 4 1/2 years. I hope it continues and they become #1. Same as I hope for P5,123,DP I feel a recovery coming. we certainly Need it. My Money is on Fotolia and I said it a year ago. And for me....DepositPhotos is making a play also.  Of course I play the horses , always have, my Dad was a bookie when I was a kid. LOL so. What do I know?

Maybe they are all russian? Eastern european?

FT is just as crappy as all the other low tier earners

Do they have a real office in NYC now? Their old address was one of those offices in Florida that would take your mail for you so it looked like you had a US based address if I remember rightly (there were like 200 hundred companies all apparently in the same office I think). Has anyone gone by their NYC office to see if there's actually anyone there?

Off topic to the ft post but in reply to the deposit topic I have found that they are one of the only companies that reply within a day or two to an email and helped me out a bunch when I uploaded content mid last year. They even keyword ed a massive bunch of videos for me before i got around to applying a csv. No other site has ever done that.

I noticed some abnormalities in the last few days.

Maybe it's an anomaly and things will go back to normal tomorrow, but FT sales have dropped about 40% for the last 2 days compare to the first 2 days of previous weeks. SS on the other hand has been fairly normal.

I was going to blame Easter and people taking some days off, but it doesn't seem like it. Has anyone noticed big drops in the last couple days?

I had a BME on FT last month but this month it is back to normal - strong but not spectacular (and quite a bit behind SS).

My March was good but I also noticed a sudden dive in sales this week, although it already seems quite common for FT - some sort of search rotation. It also seems to me that sales (maybe just those happening through Adobe) are sometimes reported in bulk..

Sales go up sales go down its called "luck" or "statistical variation" I think maybe you folks should take a longer view than just looking at a couple of days stats

Fotolia beat SS for me for the first time but this was the worst month I've had on SS since about a year after I started there. I have three times as many photos on SS as I do on Fotolia. This was my best month to date on Fotolia but I wouldn't say it was "on fire" but humming along nicely despite having a tiny portfolio. I'm encouraged to upload more.

Photo sales seem to be picking up a bit. Video not so much. I didn't have any video sales this month with over 1,000 videos. I had two sales last month which was better than nothing but not great by any means. Overall for me, Fotolia doesn't compare to SS in terms of sales as of right now.

March was a BME for me and my small Port spread across the bigger Micros.  FT came in second to SS.  After reading all the hype a couple months ago about FT picking up due to Adobe buying it, I started adding videos to the 100 or so photos I had with them.  Sold a couple Vids this month.  They were 4k clips.  1 sold as HD for $28 and 1 sold as 720p for $19.  Not quite "on fire", but it is progress.

FT inconsistency makes me frustrated, this month too, even though I'm used to their irregular sales tempo. At some point of the month it is ahead of my SS sales and then suddenly everything almost stops and turns into prolonged drought, just weird pattern, maybe it's only my port

I had a bad month with SS but still made 7x my FT earnings.  Not seen any change with FT since adobe took over.

March was my best month, in number of sales and earnings. The interesting thing is, that I had 9 months with more views than March, and yet, it was still best month.
