I'm new to stock and have been uploading furiously lately.  I was going through old folders of images looking for stuff that might sell.  Images I maybe haven't used anywhere else that just sat there collecting dust on a hard drive.  About two weeks ago I found 6 images from a series were downloaded.  All the same day at the same price as "subscriptions."  I was more than likely the same person because I rarely have more than 2 or 3 images sold in a day.  The silly thing is they were all taken with a cell phone (and not one with a famous camera either).  They were good images because they were at just about golden hour at a famous archaeological site in Greece but definitely not fine art quality or anything spectacular.  One image was of a different subject near the site that also sold.  Yesterday one more image from the series sold and today the remaining 3 also sold.  Again, same price, "subscriptions."  Every image from that day that I uploaded and was accepted by Adobe was bought by the mystery buyer.  Thank you whoever you are, hope they come in handy.  I'm surprised someone needed the entire series because several were extremely similar (just a tiny change in angle).  The lesson for me is to upload more serial stuff and let the agencies and buyers decide what they need.  Anyone else have experiences of selling multiples like this?

Congratulations on the sales. Yes, I agree that it is a fair chance that it could be the same buyer who bought all of those similar images. However, I would be very careful about submitting similar images to AS. They are very strict about that. I believe it's possible for contributors to be kicked out if they have similars in their port. Though that may only be a temporary ban. It's well known that AS are not keen on similars.

I'd also recommend keeping similars to an absolute minimum when submitting to other agencies as well. In actual fact, try to avoid uploading them the majority of the time. There are some problematic ports out there that have huge numbers of similar images. It's basically image spam which is not a good thing. Other contributors get frustrated because their new work can be buried by tons of similars in the search results. And I'm sure that buyers don't enjoy wading through pages and pages of similars.

I have instances where a number of similar photos have been downloaded in a row - it makes for a nice bump in income, especially if they are not subs sales. Eg - a bunch of African baskets or a whole string of Sierra Nevada mountain images. It also annoys me when images get rejected for similar - sure it is another mountain, but it is a different mountain and maybe someone wants that specific mountain. I tend to not upload a heap of similar images from a series, but I can see how a designer might want them with the same model doing similar stuff - but I can also see how it would be a pain to wade through a big series when you don't want to see little variations. Ideally the sites would show the most popular image from the series with a way of indicating that there are more and showing the others if the buyers were interested.

agreed, it's the company's job to show the most relevant images for any search/filter a customer uses.  i've seen 1 from a series sell a few times and the rest get no traction.  i understand rejecting images that are barely different or just different edits but as i've seen in my example just a slightly different angle of something can be useful to someone.
