Hi,
I had a negative experience with Fotolia recently, another member used one of my images as part of his composition. I contacted support and had a few emails exchanged with Chad.
The result? Chad told me that "He thought this was allowed, it was a mistake", his images was removed and no further action was taken
This guy was selling my image for I dont know how long, he breaks the TOS and my copyright
Is this how Fotolia protects our work as photographers?
Maybe he has used your images too so here is a link to his portfolio: http://www.fotolia.com/p/89020

Sorry to hear about your experience I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else :( , I think Fotolia should have taken further action against him

thanks for the info.
I looked through the portfolio and didn't see any of mine in use, but i did still see your images online!

ahh.. yeah.. true enough!!

Geez, Fotolia are leaving themselves up to a world of liability by keeping this guy online.
Looking at his portfolio it seems the majority of his images are composites. And since we know he has used images not his own, it is a safe bet that he doesn't own copyright to many of the other composited images either.

Yes, it's pretty obvious that his MO is to use other people's imagery as components in his own. I wouldn't be surprised to find that he's stealing the idea for his compositions, either.
"Gee, I didn't know you weren't allowed to do this" ... sure, yeah, right. Come on, Chad at FT, get with the program!
-
Well, that puts the kibosh on my plan to make a composite of Yuri's 12 top selling images. I was going to sell it as an XXXXXXXL. That way, I would get 26c for every sub sale.
:P
Seriously though. Chad's response is too forgiving. The guy should have be banned from Fotolia immediately.
