Title: Opting out of video subs
Post by: PeterChigmaroff on August 26, 2014, 08:48
Is this possible? I wasn't seeing any of these before, now I get sales for $1.60/$1.35... That  is just too low.

Here's hoping you know what to do about it.

Here's hoping you know what to do about it.
The options are two fold, a) opt out if possible. b) delete portfolio.

I stopped uploading all Video immediately. Their problem if they do not want new material....

So there is no way to stop or opt out of their sub program? I get a lot of sub sales from SS but they are at the same price level as cart sales.

FOTOLIA is a sub par agency with behaviors in line with those of  deposit photos. I would run the other way as fast as you can.

Lacing up my trail shoes now. Thanks.

I get sales from $1.25 to $1.60 just for M. M means 739 x 416. It is bad but it could be worst :)

How much worse can it get? 1.25 is an insult. Maybe it is ok when you just shot your cat on the sofa or an bee robbing your cheese from the table, but do you have any idea what a good video production with two, three models, equipment and light costs?

That's a key point. Just like photos videos can be easy point and shoot and it takes you a couple of minutes. But when you invest in studio lighting, for example, and then stage a shoot that takes a helluva lot more set up, know how, editing, etc, getting a buck or two for a video is an outright insult.....but only to you, not to FOTOLIA.....they would pimp my deceased mother if it meant more revenue for them. I just did a series of 10 videos in the studio that simply would not have been possible without the equipment investment. Also, there's the talent in software usage and purchases. I learned an entire new workflow that is in addition to Final Cut Pro because it adds to the aesthetic quality of my videos. The goal is to always set my videos at a level that I think can edge the competition.....I have TONS To learn but I am learning and getting better outputs that certainly demand more than a couple of dollars. Mat keeps saying the bug is fixed when it clearly isn't. That says a lot about the integrity, or lack thereof, of FOTOLIA.  I don't know if they are or aren't, but they should be reimbursing contributors for these false positive sales.

For whatever it's worth, I am following the new tone around here and that is to upload my video only on sites that pay well. I have my work only on 5 sites, 3 of which are generating sales and two that are fair commission but no sales yet (revostock and motion elements). There's another video site, I forget which one...like clip canvas or something like that where I applied and never heard a peep back...

I opted out from here.

Just de-select the video clip sub sales.

I hope it works.

Wow I was sure I was opted out of video subs... yet the button was checked!   I'm opted out now.  Thanks for the link.

In case some of your accounts are still experiencing the bug that switched
you to opt in, the switch to opt out and in has been added back into your
profile settings here:  https://us.fotolia.com/Member/Modify/Contributor

As a reminder, new subscriptions do not allow members to download videos.
The only exceptions are with subscriptions that are grandfathered in from
earlier purchases and some corporate subscriptions at premium rates.

All the best,

Mat

Yes you can opt out and I did it this morning after getting a sub footage sale. Go to contributor parameters and uncheck the box   -    "Add my video clips to the Fotolia Subscription Program"

I did this, logged out of my account and searched for one of my videos. Indeed it did say that the video could only be downloaded on demand and not sub.

Sub footage sales at Fotolia should not be tolerated since they are so poor.

Videos are no longer being offered with subscriptions.  The opt out button is only there to address old subscriptions that are grandfathered in.

I just seems odd to me that last year when I thought about uploading footage to Fotolia, I made sure that the box was un-checked.  Then sometime between last year and now, the box disappeared, and now when it re-appears, it seems that its been checked (meaning to be included in the footage subs program).  Hmmmm
