Hi Matt; A great topic would be how Adobe Stock will be the front runner of royalty increases to make the industry sustainable for the very people who produce the content that agencies get extremely wealthy from.

Forget setting up an exclusive or a dodgy all you can eat subscription library.

Adobe should really shake up the industry and increase contributor royalties.

That would give the Pond5 Exclusive and the Shutterstock $1.50 sales a serious kick in the ass and show everyone (buyers included) just how serious Adobe is at creating a great library.

Would you quit uploading to Shutterstock if they raised royalties?

Yes, it will be recorded and can be viewed at the same link after it's done. Well, unless I say something that gets me in trouble...then I'll have to take it offline immediately! Probably best to tune in live just in case :) . I'm hoping to get a lot of questions to prompt the discussion vs me just talking stock. I'm perfectly willing to do so but I think it would be more interesting for all parties involved if it's a Q&A format.

See you there!

Mat

Matt, I love your night music concert photography.  Could you tell me the gear you use ?  Camera/fast lens?  Thanks, Oscar Williams.  I was asked to photograph a night music concert. Should I rent a 70--200 F2.8 or 1.4?

Taking content offline, hope was a joke.
It will show a bad tactic.
Errors and mistakes do happen.
You might make a mistake or give a wrong answer.
So what? You can clarify it in second time.
Again, i will get it as a joking comment!
:) :) :)

Thanks Martha. It should be pretty straightforward to get in. This is the first time I'm using this platform so if you notice anything that did present an unnecessary obstacle, please let me know.

See you soon!

I had to bow out around 5:30, but great job, Mat! Very informative. The explanation about sensei and keywords was helpful. I have some images to upload, am anxious to try it.

Hi Mat,

Great webinar.

The question regarding copyright reminded me. I am about to send you a PM re. some particularly egregious infringement that has been going on on Fotolia and carried over to Adobe. I am hoping that the new ownership takes this seriously. It is a top selling person who has probably made tens of thousands off someone else's work given their placement in some of the most popular search results for years. Be interesting to see if this is taken seriously.

Thanks Mat,
I just watched the replay and got some great tips! Is there someplace where we can sign up to be notified of in advance of webinars? I can't find a place to subscribe to such notification on the contributor site.

Also I was wondering how we might lobby for a change to the witness signature requirement on releases. Getty/iStock & Pond5 don't have this requirement and Fotolia didn't. I recently left Getty and have thousands of images I want to submit to AS, but b/c many of the releases don't have witness signature I can't upload them to AS. Seems like a competitive disadvantage for AS to have this requirement. Really can't imagine that a release dispute will result in dragging in a witness to testify.

Thanks in advance for help on these 2 Qs!

Thanks ML, you should be able to "follow" me on Crowdcast which I believe will then provide you with updates on new webinars: https://www.crowdcast.io/mhayward2909 (https://www.crowdcast.io/mhayward2909)

We have a few planned and once I get the dates locked in I will be sure to post here in MSG also. Regarding the witness requirement on releases, yes I will bring this up again with our legal team.

Best regards,

Mat Hayward

Great! I just followed you on Crowdcast. I think the MR issue is very significant for AS as it discourages folks with content from other agencies from joining. Anything that makes it more difficult for contributors and their collaborators is a disincentive. Plus, if AS were willing to match the Getty/iStock policy, it would give them an advantage over SS who still require witness for all releases. Finally, in addition to my (former) Getty collection, I often photograph people solo and sometimes in remote places, where there is no ready witness, so the need to have one can be a significant hurdle. I hope the decision-makers at AS are fully evaluating the cost vs. benefit of this requirement. I rest my case ;-).

You should start a new thread on this. It’s important but might not get seen when it’s off-topic in the webinar thread. I am interested in the answer.

So far no reply from Matt to my PM. I suspect the answer will be no answer or action. This particular person has been at it for years but is a little craftier than the average so it would take a bit of (minimal) investigation by the agency.

I'm sorry but I cannot provide support via PM through outside forums. Please submit a ticket via the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal through the contact us link at the bottom of the page. You can put my name in the subject so it is definitely assigned to me.

Thanks,

Mat

Yeah, it's not my work being infringed in this case so you wont be "supporting" me. With the PM I sent you know as much as I do. I guess the only difference is it has nothing to do with me while it is on your site. What you do with the information is now up to you/ Adobe.
