If your rank is dropping, it's you.
If it doesn't, it's Fotolia.

But rank is useless on Fotolia for footage. I can get a $150 video download but it counts the same as a $0.5 photo sale. I never take notice of my rank as I only contribute footage and it's way off the mark. It it went via $$$ that would be a lot better INHO

Back to the original question: I find Fotolia/Adobe inconsistent with sales. Some weeks it's up with Shutterstock and Getty where as other weeks its down. The last month has been particularly good but this week has been a little slow.

$150 video sale on Fotolia? I didn't know it was possible.  :o

Otherwise, you are right, the rank is useful for contributors with a port made mostly of stills.

FYI, the OP asked the question to photo contributors.

This week I did not sell quantity but videos and an extended license. This is a good week.
Leveraging the topic.
Before, when it was Fotolia, I had 1300 views a month on average (photos / video) and my sales rate was around 13%.
So with the purchase of Adobe, my last months were between 400 and 500 views per month. But my selling rate is 25%.
I mean 25% of the views become sales. Great.
But before with Fotolia I sold more and I earned more.
Any similar experience?
Another change is that with Fotolia the vast majority of my sales came from Europe. Now with Adobe are from the United States.

This week has been strangely below average for 4 of the 5 days. My weekly ranking hasn't dropped, but overall download numbers are down. I wonder if an API partner closed down.

Exactly my experience. I used to sell about 30% to US buyers, now I sell about 30% to EU buyers, and overall earning are way down. All I'm getting now are those 0,99$ sales, before that I got a lot of X, XL, L, credit sales that more or less vanished.

I think Fotolia is quite Eurocentric lots of countries with May holiday and hot weather. My sales were very poor everywhere :'(

Yup. In Europe when the temperature goes over 22 degrees it's an automatic bank holiday. All video editors just leave their computers and stare at the sun.

That being said, my sales are still normal.

Fotolia/Adobe is not what I had hoped for after rising sales since the take over
the last 6 months have been rubbish.

The earlier reasonably high value sales have just been replaced with .22 and .99 credit sales I'm lucky to get $30 per month now.

Yeah I've had a couple in the last few months. It must have been some weird kind of extended 4K license? The majority are the $28 ones

I never had the "bump" when adobe started like some reported.....despite its many issues SS continues to tower above its competitors. I really wish someone would give it some decent competition.

To me SS isn't the juggernaut it used to be. Fotolia is still behind, but it will not take much to catch up.

Some months they've come close for me but so far never overtaken. So I think the gap for many may still be wide.....My sales on SS haven't declined as much as many have reported or adobe increased.  I think the opportunity is there as there are many weaknesses at SS and I find Adobe/Fotolia much more stable...can't remember any outages or bizarre rejections for a long time.

I think you are right and seeing the future. FT keeps growing, SS is standing still. Adobe add all the cloud buyers, as long as more designers subscribe, we will get more sales. SS sales have reached their natural cap. IS that was on top has now dropped to third, buyers know there are other sites not run by Getty, which has managed to build a very negative reputation in the stock photo market.

That sounds like wishful thinking on your part.

The Getty users I know seem happy enough, although they like the idea of competition in the market too

I am following this thread with interest. I'm seeing growth in many accounts but would like to understand why some of you are not.

@Madman will you answer the following questions for me please?

How many files are in your account?
How long has it been since you have submitted new content?
When you most recently submitted new content, how many files did you submit?
Have you synced your Fotolia account with Adobe Stock yet?
If not, why not?

Thanks,

Mat

Thanks for your care Mat, a few years ago, my earnings were constantly increasing on fotolia, but over the last few months, it is getting down... maybe I need to work much harder now for sell more images...

I have over 5000 images on my fotolia account,
I am constantly uploading files to fotolia,
last few days ago I uploaded about 50 images (not exactly sure)
Ive synced my Fotolia account with Adobe Stock Immediately after you say it,
I never tried to go into the adobe portal before.

Pretty big uptick in sales for me this year. Seemed to start in Feb and increase to a reasonably consistent rate in March. No specific reason based on my uploads from what I can tell so must be a combination of increased overall sales and/or changes to the search in my favour. $435 for me in 2017... $445 in 2018 so far.

Mat, I'm having a similar experience.  Up until last summer I was delighted with the growth at Fotolia.  Then, quite suddenly, sales dropped and have remained at lower levels.  I have continued to upload what I believe is quality work, and yes I am synched with Adobe.  However my sales and income are now only 50% - 65% of previous experience.  US sales have declined significantly and I suspect that some sort of location based search parameter has been introduced which has reduced my sales (but perhaps not for others).  I am based in South Korea but all my work is produced for the European and American markets.

Up until last summer I could happily sell 30-45 images most days.  Nowadays that has reduced to the 15- 25 range, so clearly something has happened.

Thanks for your help as always.

Some input from myself. Sales down a bit, a good month is often followed by a bad month and the total of the 1st four months 2018 is within $40 of 2017. Approx 0.7% difference. Average rolling 7 days sales volume rarely seems to change at the moment, it used to vary but over the last 1-2 months it seems constant. Weekly rank is down by 150 or so.... a third basically.

10,500 files,
upload 200-400 a month at the moment
Account synced

Edit. Sales volume hasn't dropped as much as $'s .... my gut feeling is that a lot of it is down to the re-direct away from the Fotolia website where there is a great chance of larger $ credit sales compared to those at Adobe Stock.

... totally opposite in my case... everything was fine and in rise until February this year and after that just decline... something changed and not seeing me with rare sales after slow, but evident progress year-after-year...

For me, in general:

- Modest year over year increase for first five months of 2018 vs 2017

- Sales seemed to have taken a 10-20% drop since mid March 2018.  Maybe just spring break, Easter and lead up to summer?  But I did not see a similar drop last year.  Hoping it's just seasonal and not a long-term trend.

- Wildly inconsistent video sales seem to make the difference for me.  I'd love to see more data for video contributors -- a dedicated area where I can see video sales so I can spot trends that could guide me in deciding what to concentrate on.
