I thought I would post a message from Chad Bridwell about how the ranking system works on Fotolia. I was wondering about that.
I have had a lot of questions about this new Rank feature. I answered these in our own forum but I thought it might help you guys understand.
The rank is only determined on how much money a photographer has made in comparison to other photographers. So if you have a lot of downloads but lower commissions you might have a lower rank than someone who has less sales but higher commissions.
We have two rank listings:
Overall - Your overall rank compared to other photographers
Last seven days- How your sales compare to other photographers in the last seven days.
A rank of 1 is the best while anything lower has meant a photographer earned less that number 1. It is possible to have many photographers on the same rank. This means they earned the same amount of money.
If your rank drops it does not mean your sales have dropped it just means that someone else earned more than you.
If you have no sales your rank is last for the week or overall.
We created this feature to give you some idea on how you are doing in comparison to your colleagues and hopefully improve.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

It is quite interesting. Good to know it is based on revenue rather than downloads.

yeah.
It is nice to have that sort of raking on one of the micros. It is allright to see how we compare, or what is possible.
