Hi, I've recently spruced up some of my images and submitted, these have been rejected as "too similar to existing images". Is there a way to replace the original with the new one? Thanks.

You cannot "replace" them, but you can delete the old one and then re-submit the new one.

But be aware that there is still a risk that the new one might be rejected for being "too similar" and you do not even know which image Adobe thinks it's too similar to.

I went from a 99% acceptance rate for years to a 90% rejection rate. Almost everythin gets rejected now including images where I absolutely do not have any even slightly similar images in my portfolio. It's like "oh, you already have ONE photo of a dog in your portfolio? Now you are not allowed to ever have a photo of a dog in your portfolio ever again, because that's too similar."

I am not denying that I have few similar looking images from the same shoot in my portfolio.  I am not going to spend money on props, set up my lamps, backgrounds, etc. arrange an image and then just take exactly ONE single image. That's not worth the effort and money. Just like when you book a model you would not do so if you were told that you are only allowed to submit ONE Image with that model. That's just not economic. Of course you will try to get the most out of it and yes, that might lead to a few similar looking images - though from my experienve there are customers who are looking for exactly that.

But for me Adobe isn't just rejecting images where I already have "similar looking" images in my port. They are literally rejecting everything where I already have a similar topic in my port, even if the photo itself looks completely different.

Thanks HU. I was hoping the new one could replace the old in the same position in the search, so I didn't lose any ranking.

The "similar" thing they've brought in appears massively flawed.  A lot of people are finding images flagged with no similar ones in the collection and no real theme or hint.
Suspicion is they've introduced some flawed AI thats making these random decisions based on incorrect data or training.

Good answer. I have only had minimal rejections for similar, but I know others that have had more. One of my rejections was nothing like anything I ever did or uploaded.

Adobe people have said, it's not just our images, it can be for being similar to other images, for the same subject. For all I know, it could be, too many images like that, and the similar is like the "Quality Issues" which is just a generic rejection.

Some people are lucky, or... maybe friends for Adobe.
Adobe loves and protects AI prompters...
here I quote myself, a ten months old message:

That week I had about $200 in sales.  Around 12,000 images in portfolio.  Only $1/wk for 4,000 assets is pretty bad honestly.  If you can post your portfolio, I can give you an advice.  My portfolio is below.

Nice portfolio.

Nice portfolio???  :o And he feels well placed for giving advices!  :o :o wow
Not sure that Rafale mode users are Gods ::)

I must admit that I submit sometimes 2, 3 variations of a same subject.

But this
https://stock.adobe.com/fr/search?order=relevance&serie_id=485406634&order=relevance&serie_id=485406634
is far beyond the limit. Size does matter, for a certain type of portfolio.

If I did this, I would not feel at ease to come in and whine that my account has been blocked... and proclaim to all immaculate innocence (and not the slightest doubt about the blind compassion of all).

If that's the case, then the rejection reason should reflect this. For me the rejection reason literally says "we found that your image resembles other images you have already uploaded."

You are correct, but we have been told, that similar may mean, similar to other images, already accepted. Like some other issues and questions, a clear and straight answer would be nice. We don't get that.

It seems random, i uploaded drone shots of a ski resort.  Ive got a lot of drone footage in my portfolio but exactly 0% of that was of a ski resort or winter in general.

Every single image was rejected with "similar to already in portfolio" despite it containing literally none.  No idea if its doing a similar search or maybe even looking for too many overlap in metadata.  Either way its a complete random crapshoot not.

Either way its a complete random crapshoot now.

That's the real answer. Whether it's random, AI, based on similar to others or something else, which we are not informed of the facts or the truth, "its a complete random crapshoot" where analysis, reason or logic, don't help anything.
