Hi there,

Has anyone noticed a sudden drop in sales starting from last Thursday or so (Sept 17), I thought maybe the end of the week was unusually slow, but nothing changed after the new week started..

The first half of September was real good at sales and then suddenly such a decline.. Or is it just me? :o

Actually, mine are very good on FT right now. No complaints here.

Sales seem to be fine for me and I don't have many images (160) on there.

Mine are doing well, will have one of the best if not the best month. I also have regular EL sales there, approximately 1 per month. What I dont like is, that their review time si much longer then it used to be.

I uploaded 56 (accepted) photos and illustrations since June when I re-joined Fotolia - most of them in the past month, and while RPI is less than on shutterstock I'm encouraged that I'm seeing sales of new images shortly after some files are accepted, and repeat sales of those images too.

Limited experience given my small portfolio and having recently joined but take it for what it's worth. Just got an email alert that a file sold while I was typing this - I need to figure out how to turn off those alerts LOL.

Disappointed that they rejected a bunch of my light blur backgrounds that sell very well elsewhere but that's what I get for coming late to the party - they actually also sold well on Fotolia when I belonged there some years ago...oh well.  The key for me is that compared to when I was on there before Adobe took over, sales seem much better despite the fact that some of my previous sellers aren't in my new port.

Looks as if there are some minor changes to the sort-order. No bad effect yet, had a good day yesterday but I hope we are not in for a dry spell.

This really, I think, just emphasizes what most of us know. It's not ALL the website; a lot of it has to do with the types of images in your portfolio, and the types of people that use that site. My top selling image for the 4 years that I've been in Microstock has over 400 downloads in SS, but only 17 with FT. On the other hand, one of my most downloaded images on FT (117) has no sales on SS.
(I have only about 375 images online).

And one more thing. As I have noted a couple of other times, since the beginning of the year (2015) when FT was taken over by Adobe, my sales in SS (which used to be more each month than FT, BS, and DT combined, both in downloads and sales) has been slipping while my sales at FT have been on the rise. In the entire month of September my sales from FT and SS have stayed within $10 of each other every day (with FT being the one ahead). In fact, at this moment, they are only $0.48 apart.
Of course, if I get one large SOD on SS, everything changes. But I hardly ever see them any more.

I guess the conclusion I take is that, while I love reading about everyone's experiences, as in life, your most important competitor is yourself. I take a look at the types of images ("stories") I tell that do well, and do more of them.

Already quite a few people reporting the decline, so must be some changes to the search engine or something similar that affects some of the portfolios.

Still September will be my best month ever due to the rise in sales in the first 2 weeks, sad the trend kinda stopped for me this past week :-[ Full of hopes it will pick up again

Adobe/FT have alradey changed their sort a few times not much and not in the typical devastaing fashion where many portfolios are getting completely annihilated. I don't think they will either, probably learnt from other agencies mistakes.

SS OTH keep changing their sort every single day,  calling it an experiment?  right.

My top image on IS, licensed over 10K times, I don't think has sold more than a dozen on all the sites it's on, since I've been uploading to them.  Probably because you can lift it from a million sites online.

Yes, something happened a week or ten days ago.  My sales dropped by about 30% overnight and have stayed at the lower level ever since.  Most likely a search change, but of course it might be a seasonal thing.  I suspect a search change.  I don't mind search changes because generally they are swings and roundabouts and usually the situation recovers.  However, this time I've noticed that since the change new uploads don't seem to be getting the sales like before.

There was a 50% off sale that ended the 20th of September (Sunday). So, some people maybe seeing a slowdown from the 17th /18th Sept as the working week finished.

Personally, they're selling just as many as ever, if not more so. About a couple of hundred a week about a month or so ago to over 300 now. They've been the fastest growing agency for some time now (for me anyway).

Edit. The sale was the one that gave clients 50% off but paid contributors 100% commission.

Are you saying you've earned less then 5$ whole month with 1000+ port?

I was saying exactly that and then two sales came in. So now I am slightly above the 5 USD mark for monthly earnings. Yay me.

Believe me, I wish this wasn't true, but it is is - and it has become the rule this year that I earn below 10 USD per month at FT. Not an exception.

I am afraid it looks as if they have changed  the search/algorithm. Well so far so good and I hope the change isn't too damaging.

It seems completely and utterly stupid to change a search now. It was a winning formula and many, many people were happy the way it was going.

I have a small amount of images (around 400) and just passed $120 usd for the month of Sept. On FT.
On SS, I just passed $115 usd, same time period.

Clearly, we all have different experiences. My guess is that it has to do with the types of images we all make and the type of customer base each microstock site attracts during any given month/season.

Either that, or the God Of Microstock just spins a roulette wheel and laughs each month.

I normally don't write on forums but I also have almost no sales on fotolia. and they are keep rejecting files with the reason of "File Declined - Too Similar" eventhough they are not in same series or similar

Fotolia THIS IS NOT GOOD.

Well, that is a pretty broad category. You could say the same if you typed in "people."

The fact its a popular category got nothing to do with the search algorithm. The search concerns the placements not the category-

Perhaps you could be a little less enigmatic? Your post says check the number of of results not about placement?

Yeah, I like the fact, that even if you get sub sale, it can get you more money, not just those 0.29 cents. I regulary have sub sales that are above 1 and lots of them between 0.50 and 1. Last week I even had one for 4.49.
