Title: search engine fully functional!
Post by: Peter on November 08, 2007, 16:17
Good news! Search engine appears to be fully functional! Try it! Not only first 7 words, but all (probably).

I guess it is not 100% procent yet, especialy with non common words, but it definitely searches beyond first 7!

well,

i don't know if this is the reason or not, but i'm getting a lot of sales since late october. It's not everyday, but normally i have 2 or 3 sales per day when i sell, i even had an EL a few days ago and some days i'm earning more than in SS (of course SS beats the crap out of fotolia for it's consistency). Nevertheless it's a very good sign...

I hope so!  I've noticed that this week my sales have gone back up to vrs1 levels.  :)

I have had more downloads at FT than DT so far this month (but much lower earnings).  Something has definitely happened.   I like it.

Sales are not so good in FT for me.  They're happening, though not as much as in the past.

I have about 5 or 6 who are selling at FT , but they sell  good for my little portfolio...It probably because the search engine look at about the seven first keywords and all my keywords are not disposed like that.

This theory make sense because, my best files are butterfly. In alphabetical order, butterfly is in good position so. It's probably because of that I have some files whit about 2 or 3 views after 2 months...

I agree with souper, not there yet.
Got some more downloads than lasy months, but search engine is still a mess: "new york yellow" brings up only 58 files and if I search just "new york" on italian site I got 0 results: I have to translate "new" in italian to get some results (mostly unrelated).
This is depressing.

Fotolia search fixed? Nope. My best image will not be found at all with my 3 best keywords, only with a single keyword!!!
And that image is the 3rd best seller in the category.
Their search function has got to be hurting everybody.

the search engine at fotolia dont work ... thats my opinion.... i sold there every day more then 10 pics... have my 30 credits... but i dont think that it work.

for me it is not easy to search my own pics, i have to much childrens...

the english search engine perhaps work, i dont know.... here in germany i have to trust that there find my pictures by the cathogries... and when you have a low rating, forgett it...

i really love fotolia...but i will never understand why there are so unproffessional

That company would regain my respect if they once could say, "hey guys we messed up - the search engine doesn't work properly since V2, but we will fix it." Now it's just complete denial. Every other day users report in the site forum that the search engine is broken but all we hear from admins and people in charge is THERE IS NO PROBLEM.
I'm sick of it.
I sell a couple of images every day there but it is with a few exeption only old images uploaded prior to V2. (And yes I have reordered my keyword so the most relevant are in the top 7) The sales have gone up the last couple of weeks, but I could only imagine what the stats would look like if the customers would be able to find all my images and not just a small percentage. If I can't find them (and I at least know what keywords I have ) how could they?.....

It's my guess that V2 irretrievably damaged the structure of existing images' keywords. Many of my recent images seem to be okay with multiple keywords.
I think the site is stonewalling its customers as to the seriousness of the keyword problem, hoping that the older images will be superseded with the new ones over time and that we'll forget about it. Just my theory at this point. The fact that the site owners won't fess up to the problem leads to all kinds of wild suppositions. The thought of re-keywording the hundreds of older images there is unthinkable.

This is unacceptable. full stop.
I'd never buy anything there, and I'm asking myself why I'm still uploading.
Ok, it's better I shut up, or I'll end up in a not too polite way...

Wow really  :o

Was tempted to say ..... you should get out more   :) :D

Seriously though so by saying it is your best seller so far  you must be at  other sites right!?

Well, I repositioned my keywords and my sales came to a screeching halt.  They vanished.  I did shortly after/during V2.  Now, in November, my sales are almost back to what they were in the spring - but I also have almost twice as many photos online.

I believe that he has just started uploading to other sites but has 100's of exclusive images at fotolia so it's not really a fair comparison.  Sorry if I'm wrong on this Chode but that's the impression I got through your other posts.  BTW Great portfolio on fotolia :)
