This is really annoying Adobe/Fotolia allows anyone to upload other's work... I continuously contact their support but it looks like they don't care and sometimes they even don't take down the file...

Original file Uploaded on 11-01-2007 Author Beboy
https://www.fotolia.com/id/4917712 [nofollow]

Same file re-uploaded on 09-26-2016 (It's been on Adobe/Fotolia for more than 1Yr)
https://stock.adobe.com/stock-photo/smiling-smiley-winking-eye/121785234 [nofollow]

This user uploaded entire collection on his/her account

I already contacted Adobe AND Fotolia, Still waiting for an answer

Second link is the dodgy portfolio. Pretty blatant if you look through it too. I'm sure there's a lot if people's work in there.

And you're a third party?

And you're a third party?

Why? Third party can not claim copyright!

It happened to me and I am sure it happened to most of us, and it's always happening to beboy. I dropped him a message as well

No, in my past experience, unless you are the copyright holder, the site will do nothing about it. How can they know who the thief is without verifying copyright? You as the third party can't verify it, you can only guess. And no, a third party can't claim copyright. It's good that you were reporting theft, but unfortunately these sites don't really care much, even if you were the copyright holder. Contacting beboy was the right thing to do. It's up to them to complain.

Thank you for your post, I know beboy is the creator he uploaded them 10 Years ago and yes hopefully beboy will do something about it. Until then Adobe / Seller enjoys free money

Only if they collect. First they would need enough sales before FT discovers the theft and closes their account. All it takes is one person who finds their own work to report them. The real author needs to report this. Nice work.

There's no real justification for Adobe not taking action if a third party points out obvious infringement.   They may not be legally required to do anything, but that doesn't make it right to ignore an obviously verifiable report of theft.   They just decline to spend the time and money it would take to clean up their business, because there are no consequences to them in letting this sort of thing continue.

There's a word for knowingly reselling stolen goods: "fencing".

Whether this particular report is verifiable or not, I can't say.

What is this gobbledygook?

Ask Leonard Whistler he'd probably get it in a flash.

MD5 and SHA1 are algorithms that are used to create unique codes to identify files. If the same file is uploaded to a web site a second time, it would have the same unique code, and the same file size, so they would be able to swiftly identify exact duplicates, and prevent someone from uploading a file that someone else has already uploaded.

in addition, it prevents a contributor from accidentally uploading the same file a second time.

Really, that's how a file hash prevents someone from making any small change and creating a new file which has a different fingerprint? Flip the image, alter the lighting, reduce the size 1 pixel?

The MD5 algorithm is intended for digital signature applications, where a large file must be "compressed" in a secure manner before being encrypted with a private (secret) key under a public-key cryptosystem such as RSA.

I disagree with your claim that this would stop duplicates or thieves. Also if there was such an easy answer it would already be in use to prevent us from uploading our own duplicates. I don't think so.
