Title: Slow Payments from Fotolia . . . again
Post by: Tomboy2290 on December 19, 2010, 15:28
I've been waiting almost three weeks for a payment (requested 30th Nov) I know they are slow at times but this is the longest I've ever waited. I did email support with a query but no reply as of yet. Anyone else waiting three weeks or more for their money?

Good to know I'm not the only one :)
Requested payment (PayPal) on the 3-rd of December.
No money yet, no support ticket sent.
Well, I guess this delay has something to do with the holidays season. But that's why I asked for payment in the first place ... So many gifts to buy and never enough money :)

ah . . . thanks for the replies, helpful to know I'm not the only one . . . and yes it is annoying because the money would be very handy for xmas expenses. Sales have been really good at FT this month and I have even more money sitting there that I can't access . . . three weeks is way too long.

Similar problem for me.
Have been requesting since 1st Dec. No payment yet.
Dropped them an email about this, they said they will look into it.

Odd.  As usual, I requested payment the evening of the 30th my time (December 1st theirs), and I had the money on the 3rd.  They've been consistently prompt with me, averaging around a week to pay off.

My guess is that the currency you are paid in dicates the office that administers your payment. I last requested on the 12th and received it on the 17th (GBP).

Got this reply from FT support . . .  ::)

Hi,
We apologize for the delay. We have forwarded your request to our payment department for review. Please note that during the holiday season there is a high volume of conversion requests and they are working as hard as they can to process all of these requests.

Kind regards,

Fotolia Team U.S

Weird...I've already received two payments this month.

I'm in the US, too.  However, I went through the very same delayed payment issue for several months earlier this year when no one else seemed to be having a problem.  Am I now one of only a handful getting paid on time?

Oops...LOL  No.  What I meant to say was for several months I was getting paid every 2-3 weeks instead of within a week.

Well I am feeling a little better not to be the only one . . . but not much!

I'm pretty annoyed because I suspect this might be a tactic to manage their cash flow? Because if you are still waiting for a payout you are locked out of requesting anymore money until you are paid . . . sales are booming and my money is piling up untouchable.

That's the same reply I got but going by what others are saying (that they got paid as normal) that excuse doesn't stand up . . .

I just got a payout today too.  I think they must have been working to get everyone paid out before Christmas.

Probably there will be another payout before the end of the year, if I were to guess.  Just to get the accounting ducks in a row.

Hope everyone who's waiting gets theirs in the next few hours.

I'm no longer with Fotolia, but it will be interesting to see how they handle the tax situation. Don't know if they changed their policy but with their withholding of taxes on some they will need to pay out what is owed by the end of the year rather you have met payout or not.

I don't request payments very often at Fotolia.

I've never sold jack there.  I really don't know why, I feel like I do pretty well for myself, for being part of the long tail.  Seriously I've made more at BigStock since November 1st than I have at Fotolia.  I just don't get it.

Dreamstime 7x Fotolia this month
iStock 17x Fotolia this month
Shutterstock 18x Fotolia

I had similar figures there in my prior non-exclusive days.  And yes I do rank my keywords for them, although I will likely stop wasting time with that aspect since I never get sales anyhow.

This is absolutely weird, although I'm not complaining at all.  I requested my Paypal payment from FT yesterday afternoon and received it this morning. WOW!  Probably an isolated incident, but thought I would make it known anyway. Lately I've been waiting at least two weeks. Maybe they're allowing more money in the budget since it's the first of the year.??

Yep I requested again on the 26th December . . . two weeks ago . . . nothing yet. Last time it took almost 4 weeks, I don't understand how some people can get their money in 24 hrs while others wait a month. Very unfair. Heh, in the end I suppose we just have to be grateful we get paid at all  :-\

grrrrrr . . . STILL waiting for my money requested 26 Dec.

Surely they can't use the 'holiday rush' as an excuse for the delay this time. Maybe it's a little over dramatic of me but I feel as though my trust is being abused here especially as some people are apparently being paid quite quickly. Come on FT. What's the deal?

Not yet, not this time Lisa. I did contact support last month after waiting three weeks and the reply was that they were very busy processing payouts prior to the holidays. Some others received the same reply. Eventually we were paid after waiting four weeks. Seems like we are going to get the same deal this time round.
Having to wait a month is really quite rude, especially since other people are getting paid in good time . . .

They don't pay in time, and now they are cutting the royalties. Fotolia became my #2 on my "Which sites I'd like to suddenly disappear" list. (#1 is still iStock)

Suggestion: Wouldn't it be nice if there was a "karma list" also on this site? You could vote how much you "like" each site (not counting total $ at all) The scale could go from -5 (intense hate) trough 0 (neutral) to 5 (Woo-yay love)

I totally agree Perry.  On both counts.

How about that karma list, Tyler?  Could you do it?
