I thought this whole subscription business with footage has come to an end after they introduced the new pricing/commission changes?

Got a 3.3 credit footage sale just now and a friend of mine a 1.25 credit HD1080 sale  :o

Doesn anyone know how to disable subscription sales? I've disabled them for video using "Add my exclusive images and video clips to the Fotolia Subscription Program" checkbox, but now I've added a few images and they are selling as subscription.. Got 0,25 for a XXL file..

 ???

I'm going to reconsider selling photos then..

Nice quote from the mail:
"Through the subscription we are able to reach new customers, additional to the current Fotolia client base, whilst improving your Fotolia credit income, so we are glad you've included your images in this exciting offer."

Sometime last year as an FT exclusive, I opted out of sub sales for a month as a test. Soon cured me of that aberrant mindset. Virtually no sales at all. Prior to my 'experiment' I had been getting both DL's and subs sales. Can seriously damage your placement in the pecking order too for the longer term.

Yeah that's something to consider. Thanks.

Hi! I recently had sale of my footage via subscription , i received .1.8 from m download , i always had opted out subscription on footage. After i saw this sale i went to menu to check if its opted out but the option disappeared , i messaged fotolia and they replayed :
On July 8 we sent out a notification informing contributors that, while Video files are not included in our standard subscription plans, videos can from now on be made available for download in corporate subscriptions for high volume customers.

here the text of the notification that was sent out:

Fotolia - Some news about our video offer

Dear video contributors,
Because of a strong demand for videos from high-volume customers, we are going to offer some video subscriptions on a case-by-case basis for such customers. Payout will be 35% with minimum prices of 37.50 for HD 1080 and 18.75 for M size.
We will remove the current ability to download M videos at the cost of 5 downloads on our regular monthly subscriptions. Of course, customers with existing subscription plans will continue to have access to videos until these plans expire, but in time these downloads will disappear.
We are certain that these changes will help increase sales and commissions, both in quantity and value.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Fotolia Team U.K.

This is just ridiculous , i think

35% of 18.75 is 6.56, so how do they explain giving you 1.80? (Even 35% of 6.56 is more than 1.80!  ;D)

The video subscription opt out button appears to be gone.  The opt out was an important part of my decision to submit clips to fotolia.  I hope they restore it.  If the opt out is not restored phasing out my video port seems to be the best option available.

This type of sale won't happend a lot since we don't allow video download in online subscription anymore. Only the existing plans have this ability, new ones cannot download videos.

Kind regards,

My last three sales were subscription M sales each with 1.25 credits earned for me. If this carries on for much longer I'm pulling my entire portfolio from Fotolia. I take pride in my work and am not prepared to just give it away like this. I am not exclusive to Fotolia but would like the option to stay out of any subscription plans. Is that too much to ask? If not, then why not? A simple answer would be nice...

I had one of those too. I immediately stopped uploading footage there. I may reuptake if nobody else reports any of those sales anymore for at least 6 month. Do not play with our trust. Any clip not uploaded is a lost chance of revenue for fotolia.

Just got one M size sub for $2.1. I have always been opted out of subscription, and that is the only reason why i still leave some of my footage there. So the bug still there or ...? If i get a few more of this i will just close my account.

It simply raises cautionary flags. Matt said, "We have experienced a temporary bug allowing some holders of old monthly subscriptions to download videos from opted out contributors. That is now fixed." Well apparently not.  This is just a red flag to me and I would take this as a stamp of how FOTOLIA regularly operates and a measure of the stability of their system. In my opinion closing your account is the way to go if you can afford it.

@ MatHayward: People continue to report sub sales for footage.

So, did you not tell the truth when claiming it is a bug?
Where is the opt-out checkbox?
Or you have a permanent bug? (then you should pay the contributors the difference between a regular footage sale and the price they received)

What is going on?

Tror, are you someone I have been in contact with?  As far as I know the issue has been resolved.  For those that had issues that have written to me directly I have gotten further assurances their accounts are not allowing video subscriptions any more.  I have not been made aware of any further issues.

There is no longer an opt out button because regular subscription plans no longer allow for video downloads.  The only exception are subscriptions grandfathered in prior to the change.

I'm sorry but I am not sure who you are so feel free to email me directly if you are still seeing subscription video sales after having been opted out of selling them in the past.  Be sure to include your login name or account number.

My email address is:  [email protected]

Thanks,

Mat

Hi Mat,

Thanks for your prompt reply. No, we haven`t been in contact - i am asking because today another thread popped up about the same issue. I have halted all video uploads for now until the weather is clear again :-)

Maybe you should represent fotolia "officially" here on the board - some positive communication surely would help the image of fotolia on the board these days ;-)
