Title: Strange statistics from Fotolia
Post by: HerMajesty on October 19, 2015, 00:47
Over the weekend I had my first day without a sale @Fotolia and only one little subscription purchase in two days. You could say that it's just bad luck, but at the same time my images' view count tripled. So .... views up and no sales? :o

I regulary check my views, and what I'v noticed is, that there is no coorelation between views and sales. Sometimes lots of views and few sales, and vice versa.

Maybe it was just one user browsing through your port, or images were saved to be purchased at some later time.

I wouldn't say there's a very strong correlation (green line is views and red is downloads, both weekly), but an unusually high number of views and an unprecedented lack of downloads is a bit concerning.

I don't take any notice of views as they seem inconsistent site to site and I don't know how they are derived.....maybe they've changed the way they measure them....when I did look at views I remember fotolias plummeted when they changed from counting when they appeared on a search page to when they were zoomed (I think).

Or maybe some visits come from search engines bots.

Or maybe some visits come from search engines bots.
But that wouldn't explain the sudden, two day spike in views, nor would it affect sales negatively.
Sales are back (sort of) and views are back to normal again :)
