This is a first...two rejections for the images being "too artistic."
Quote
We regret to inform you that photo ######### was unfortunately not accepted. The photographs in the Fotolia database are intended for sale as illustration of brochures, magazines, websites, and presentations.

Your photographic and artistic work is remarkable but this type of image is not appropriate for Fotolia customers. Your photograph would be emphasized better in an artistic database.

As if that rejection reason isn't ridiculous enough, what's so strange is that they accepted three other shots of the same model from the same shoot in the same clothing in the same location with the same lighting.  The only difference is the accepted three are portraits of her face (one of which is an Editor's Choice selection at DT), while the "too artistic" shots are a full body shot, and a close-up torso shot that shows off her lingerie and tattoo.

These rejections also come at a time when BigStock is asking contributors to send their more artistic shots.  And of course, out of all five photos in the series, these two shots are the two selling the most at SS.

A sign that Fotolia is completely out of touch with the diversity of the buying public perhaps?

I would ask myself: How much potential do they have as micro? Would RM be more interesting?

Really nice work. I suggest you look into some other models in the stock industry RM,RR just a suggestion.

Best,

On the other hand, it's nice to know that they do have one other reject button to push and you were special enough to get it!

I wonder too if the statement "this work is innapropriate for Fotolia customers" has anything to do with the fact that she's perhaps a little too sexy.  This is the same site that rejected one of mine, a week old naked baby, (no private parts showing) for "morality" reasons even though it was "excellent".

P.S.  I saw the first shot and thought "nice backdrop, I wonder where Karin bought it"  hehe, then I saw the location.

karimala, comparing it side by side with your accepted shots,
colour correction of red +18 will match the skin tone and costume .
i would color correct and resubmit.

Never mind the photo's you really need to decorate your bathroom!

Well done Karin they are a very good effort, don't worry about what micro sites accept or reject them, personally I'd take the second one and add some vignetting it's a bit too bright for what I think the image should portray, but that's just my opinion, I know it would make the shot a bit cliche but cliche sells sometimes.

But I do agree with the others in so much that the best of these should be on Getty.

I take it you've run out of fruit then :D

Maybe if she was holding a squirt gun and a rubber ducky?  ;D

More of your usual great stuff Kari.

I'd go with the opinion that the reviewer found it "just too sexy" for DT.

Alamy?

first of all very nice images congratulations.
among the micros I think IS would like such images the most. one think though I don't know if they'd make fuss about the tattoo being copyrighted.

it depends, if she is the creator of the design and the tatoo maker just did it for her.
if not, you are right, stokfoto, then kari will need to have both mr and pr.
at least , i know that's for Alamy; not sure if IS is the same.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw them too: I can definitely see these on istock.

LOL...I never worry about Fotolia's rejections!  I'd just never heard of the "too artistic" reason before.

Why didn't I submit them as RM?  Well, it's because they were shot at 800 ISO and needed to be reduced in size to help control the noise and regain focus.   :-\  I definitely agree they are IS-ish, and have already uploaded a few there.

Totally agree.  Hot images, but they won't sell that much.
