Hello veterans,

Signed up at Fotolia in mid-may and managed to get 300 odd images approved before version 2. Am newcomer to this field, and was exhilarated when the first photo was sold.

Todate, and despite the technical problems, sales continue sporadically.

Trouble is that I've got another big batch to upload, and it is impossible!
I use simple upload (cant use FTP) and after hitting the browse and upload buttons, nothing happens. I am led to a blank page instead of an editing page.

I've contacted support, ofcourse, and they've sent me a "we're working on it message".

Anyone else having this particular problem?  It's very frustrating.

Thanks,

Lina

Haven't had a problem with the flash upoader although I mostly use ftp (it was flaky today).

It is using flash, maybe try and upate your flash app.

Why can't you use ftp?

I just put this in the other post, but I coudn't ftp, I sent through their webside and nothing arrived, then yesterday I tried 5 the flash-way - only 3 made it and it seemed to freeze up on the other 2.

Maybe try the flash button in smaller batches and you'll have better luck?

Lina - I couldn't use FTP and resorted to Flash.  The first time I tried, I only got about 7 of my 37 images uploaded.  I'm using a cable modem (VDSL).

What I noticed was even though the site indicates the files are uploaded, they aren't - the upload continues in the background.

Initially, I thought it was strange that I could upload 37 images in 10 minutes when it takes FTP about 20 images an hour.  After the first try, my internet connection slowed down and I noticed the modem was doing a lot of communicating which I thought was strange - I got paranoid and unplugged the modem (why only 7 images showed up).

A week later, I uploaded the remaining 30.  This time, I didn't unplug the modem - the images were uploaded in the background even after I logged off the site.  My recommendation (if you can't FTP) is to use the flash, but don't disconnect from your ISP until you know the upload is done.  Your internet connection will be slower during the upload but you can continue to work.

Good Luck.

I uploaded  15 (5 at a time) by simple upload yesterday but when I tried to do another batch it wouldn't work.  I tried 3 times and then gave up so I'm just going to leave it a couple of days until they sort it out.  They were reveiwing them within minutes of editing.

I'm also unable to get a connection using FTP with them since they've converted.  I have been successful with the flash method, though.

I upload with the "normal form" and don't have problems other than description being caught as title - an issue that I'm not sure is not happening in all types of uploads.

Adelaide

Strange experiences...

I uploaded 5 photos last week-end via http and nothing happened, so I uploaded them again later via ftp and it worked well...

until 48h later, when I received messages of refused files because of similar photos already submitted!

Some of them were accepted, some refused (for good reasons  :-\ ) and some rejected for the above reason.

Now everything seems to be ok, 3 accepted, 1 refused and still waiting for the verdict for the last one.

Same with flash Adelaide, and sometimes causes a problem as description is too long (title field allows no more than 64 characters), so have to trim off the fat

Yeah, they've got the IPTC data tags linked to the wrong fields, so the description goes in as the title.  They've known about it for a month but clearly they cannot be bothered to fix it.  Sloppy......

I usually get about 20-30 sales a month at FT, nothing since June 11th  I queried them about the lack of sales, and a 2 cent sale that was logged.  Got the canned response.  Hopefully, they can get their ducks in orders.  Apparently they've lost all the keywords, and now they have to re-keyword them.   It's a great site, and it would be a shame if it went down in flames due to software

Thanks,

Will try flash over this weekend (summer holiday starts). I'll connect and go for a swim to avoid swearing at the computer.

Have a nice vacation everyone,

Lina

I tried FTP but that still doesn't work.  The flash uploader worked perfectly.

I found that 'uploading new files with normal form' has stopped working for me if I try to do 5 at a time but it worked perfectly for me several times if I just uploaded 3 at a time.

small batches 2-3 images with flash seems to work yesterday I had a batch of ten FTPed last night suddenly appear this morning after they had been lost in limbo together with a batch of 10 I FTPed this morning so FTp seems to be back.

however reviewing is very speedy and positive.

Featurepics stated they had a few reviewers on holidays but they still start clearing the backlog

Rather strange the search option doesn't seem to work for me but I have almost reached June's total earnings already at FT so someone is finding my images.

I hope things get working at FT soon - I now have a month of images to upload!
