Title: What's your experience...?
Post by: hatman12 on March 18, 2007, 23:16
Currently I only upload to IS, SS and DT.

I hate the fact that FT misleads by publishing that 2.5 mill headline figure (lying *insult removed*), but looking through their top sales list, it does seem that they are making sales.

Anyone here noticed any trends at FT recently (increased or decreased sales)?

FT started slow, but DLs have been picking up,
although at a slow pace, but DLs are consistent
for me. It's slower than SS and DT for me.

Its worth a try.

SLOWER than DT?  It must be a dead duck then......

I submit to the SS, IS, DT and FT. My FT sales are about 1/3 of my DT sales, and about 5% of my total. Is FT worthwhile? I'd have to say "Barely, for me at least".

Hi, first post here. I've been submitting to five agencies and FT has always been my #2. Lately sales have been picking up and in $ FT is just trailing SS (not counting footage)! I just went bronze on FT and tonight I requested my second payout.

Neither FT or DT are dead ducks.  They both make money for me and I have sales with them most days.  There are only two sites that sell significantly more, IS and SS.

Sometimes a dead duck revives, if you feed it lots of good images :)

I agree.

Certainly no dead ducks. For me steady and reliable sales.

Well at long last the duck has started quacking again.....

Good for you!

Wish you a "quacking" time with your sales.

FT is #4 on my list just barely behind DT. But DT will widen the gap with the new price structure though. I see it already.

Fotolia is my Best EL seller and it has always been in my top 3.
sales are steady and I get payouts every moth.having said that  despite the growth of my 'folio my sales are around the same

Fotolia is ok. I hope it gets better for me. I just got my first payout after about 8 months. You can see my statistics in my website (All About Microstock) in my signature below which shows how many photos i had in each Micro Stock and how long it took to reach 100 downloads and how long it took to get my first payout.

It is my 2nd best, accounting for about 19% of my profits. (Not on Istockphoto yet)
The rather frequent EL sales here are a big boost.

Calling FT worthwhile depends largely on how much money you expect to make.

Does merely making the payout level each month ($50 on FT) make it worth your time to upload to this site? Certainly not for me - I expect much more than that, which is why FT is disappointing. I currently earn less than $0.1/image/month there.

For me FT is my best seller in terms of overall $$ and number of dls.  It's also my largest portfolio - easy to upload, rejection rates quite low - which attracted me to it in the first place. The only site I have ever sold an EL (like 4 or 5 in total since August 2006).

Having said that, IS has better revenues per pix and better dls per pics ratios.  I have about 80% of FT sales on IS with about 25% of the portfolio (cumbersom uploading, higher rejection rate, upload limits).

DT annoys me no end, I hate their customer service (or lack thereof), the randomness of their decisions (one batch, several pics of the same person, identical MR, one gets rejected because the MR is not ok, the other gets accepted) and their appaling acceptance rate recently (unless I have become a really lousy fotographer recently).

Don't even mention BS - the occasional sale.  Not worth the trouble.

Not yet on SS but hopefully soon.

Fotolia won't make you rich (which site will?) but if you keyword anyway might as well upload (keep in mind that fotolia wants the most important keywords as the first seven entries - that's the only hassle with the uploading there).
