First I wish they help improve the contributor relationships.

Second, I wish they improve the sales, and I am certain that is why they are recruited. However, I hope they build a win-win situation for everyone.

What big deal is this? They just recycled competition's executive. If they got marketing guy from Google I might be excited ;-)

I expect even more bad news for contributors(i.e. further cuts in comissions,...) in order to pay for the new guys.

Squat

Well, I would not complain about a cut in commissions to "pay for these new CEOs", so long as their being in the helm means a big increase in sales for every contributor, like we see with Shutterstock.  Then I would feel their "pay check" is worth it as they did the job well.

So far how it goes I am very pleased with new management... It is true they've downed our commissions, but sales are going up!

What is my wish? Well, I'd like to see more images sold 100s of times on Fotolia like this:

We have already had one major commission cut from Fotolia - perhaps to afford to hire these guys.  That one was reluctantly accepted by contributors.

I doubt another commission cut would be easy for them to justify nor go over smoothly with suppliers.

Today UK submitters had some good news:

Dear Members,

In order to maintain a balance between country zones, Fotolia will slightly increase the credit price for the UK market.
On July 1st 2009, the price per credit will increase to 0.75.

Please take advantage of the next few days while the UK credit price is still at 0.60.

We apologize for this inconvenience. Fotolia still offers by far the most affordable image and video selection on the market.

Well I hope it's good news for UK submitters.

Good news for UK members.

I hope the new management does something about the quality of support answers.  I have found an image of mine as a background in a site, purchased in FT.  I believe most licenses limit the size of an image on the web at 800pix, and in this case it is much larger.

So I asked them:
Quote
An image of mine is used as a background at this page:
http://pianoprofessionals.com/copyright.html
at 1300x986pix
Is such a large format allowed in web pages?

And they replied:
Quote
Thank you for your e-mail. Yes, once they purchase the image, they can enlarge it as much as they want/need.

Did they reply to my question?  Did I ask the wrong question?

Continuing decreasing our commissions using any way possible, but utilizing better communication. Friendly re-branding of the same thing. More like istock.

I don't think those are even serious considerations.  I expect only a quickening of the "march to zero."

I have to say you are really starting to irritate me with your miserable, incessant, repetitive, doom-laden comments.

Just because your images don't sell doesn't actually mean it's a lousy business model for all. If you don't like it then why don't you just f*+k off and do something that you do enjoy?

hey ghostwick,
the more i read in this forum, the more i understand why microagencies behave like constributors habe only (the s-word) in their head.
I remember to be told last week don't take anything here personal... But maybe i didn't get the point and this rule exist only for the new ones or anybody who didn't agree with the lemmings. :-)

I don't at all agree with the way you answered but what you said is quite true.  Too many people assume that because they aren't doing well then neither is anybody else and that it's the fault of the site going badly.  I have had BMEs at Fotolia just about every month for a year or more and it has consistently been my best earner. If someone isn't earning money or getting pleasure out of this then why bother.

Come on, people, let's talk about our own experience and allow us that too. I think each person says something because that person feels that way. If you feel different, no problem, you can say what your experience is. But it is not nice to tell others to go for a hike or get off just because you disagree. Leaf created this site so we can express our opinions without having to worry about the censorship of the sites. Let's treasure this opportunity.

You're quite right but when a site starts going badly for me then I do something about it not just assume that it's the site at fault and that everybody is in the same boat.  Usually when one person goes down another goes up to take their place so it's up to us as contributors to try and make sure that we are the one going up.  There are plenty of ways to do this if you take a bit of time working out exactly how stock photography and each site in particular works.

Please bear in mind that I created this thread so we can express our hope or expectation to the new Fotolia management so the site can improve. No one can say that Fotolia has no room for improvement, right?

This is a site for the contributors to voice their opinions, or I assume so. Correct me if I am wrong, Leaf. Let's tolerate each other, and not fight each other at least.

Talking about fighting each-other, that is what some people here as FlemishDreams are all about... They just want all share their oppinion and no one should have opposing stands...
Anyhow, for me Fotolia works just fine and yes - It sold my cevapcici image again ;-)

Someone doing something already. Price of a credit on UK goes from 60p to 75p per 1st July.
Oh, maybe that message was only intended for buyers and not subscribers but since I'm both............

I thinks it's more like catch-up for us, I think the 0.60 was calculated when the was $2 to 1.

gostwyck,  end your unnecessary suffering  -  just keep clicking 'ignore' until you're only seeing posts you agree with.  It's easy and you'll feel better.
