Title: bad stock day
Post by: scarlettholly on January 31, 2007, 06:53
I've only been in the microstock world a month, so naturally I'm trying to upload as many pics as possible. Such a bad day yesterday - 37 of 38 pics at dreamstime declined!!! And some were from exactly the same shoot that had been accepted a few days before. And then my second shutterstock rejection came through. What was even worse was that the pictures that they had accepted previously they now rejected! I failed even worse than the first time around!!!

I know I shouldn't feel that I am at the capricious whims of reviewers, and that the system is mostly fair, my ego is most definitely bruised.  :(
Better just pick myself up and take more photos!

yeah it is rather defeating especially when you take images ESPECIALLY for stock and they get rejected... :(

And although I also like to blame rejections on a bad reviewer, they don't generally 'accidently' reject images that are clear and through stunning stock.  Mediocre stock on the other hand, mind have different opinions - and more likely get rejected by one reviewer and accepted by another.  Tough for sure.

I guess all we can do is try to improve from what we learn.
-feel free to post examples of your photos on the forum, I am sure there will be a number of people eager to give their opinion.

What they say at SS is that if you're rejected the first time you should submit completely different photos the second time.
At Dreamtime, why where you submiting "exactly the same shot that had been accepted a few days before"?

For what it's worth, DT's rejections have gotten really strange for a lot of people (just search this forum and others).

......my ego is most definitely bruised.  :(  Better just pick myself up and take more photos!

Scarlettholly,  that's the attitude!!  Don't let rejections get you down.  One site will say they're all trash, and the next will take them all and sell the heck out of them....    go figure.
They don't like these pix,  just go out and make some more!! It's like eating nachos.   When the bag's empty, you get another one! No problem, there's more pictures where the last batch came from.  :)   Hang in there!   -tom

some were from exactly the same shoot that had been accepted a few days before

that's the problem... DT is rejecting a lot of "similar" pictures - even when they are not so similar actually

It's also possible they sometimes reject more to clear the backlog.

Hello?  3 year old thread.

Funny, I didn't notice that.

Paradoxically, this makes me optimistic... after three years we're still here whining about summer and bad days... nothing has changed; summer will be soon over, and we'll start to whine about christmas holidays

Perhaps the moderator can close a topic when it is outdated?
Then it can be seen immidiately.
It is so easy to overlook the date...!  :)

I am guilty...!!!

At first,I thought yesterday was Friday, but it was Saturday, which is the reason for poor sales...

Second, I did not want to open a new topic for another "crying theme" about poor sales ...
So, I found this topic and I put bold text in the post that everyone can see the difference IN TIME, but it seems they wasn't...

Sorry but, f...

Conclusion is, nothing change....

 ;)

July 1 is Canada's independance day, July 4 is USA's independance day.  It makes for a pretty slow weekend in all North American sales.

But 2007 was a good year? Some vintage messages came from back then.  ;D

There is a warning message for old threads when someone replies? Red alert pops up.

who cares if the thread is old?

"bad stock day" and "such a bad day yesterday" are always good even after 3 years, if one likes to whine

just be careful not to tell dates or put words like "summer" in your whining, and it will be good for all seasons too

2007 OLD! Then revived in July of 2010? That's not just old, it's stiff, green and smells bad. :D Turning four in a few months.

Maybe this part won her the award for keeping it alive. "capricious whims of reviewers" But just think about it, the original was in 2007, before the crack down on similar images, and strict content limitations that started three years later. What a surprise?

Lets talk about her while she's not looking? :D She hasn't been back since April 2007!
