BigStock is now in the big six. Congrats BigStock you earned it!

I know as a member of BigStock I have had bad words to say about them from time to time, but all in all I still like the management and the site in general.

My problems with them have been mostly remarks by reviewers. (I don't think they still work there as the bad mouth remarks have disappeared.)

If you are not on BigStock perhaps you should be. I'm sure they are aiming for the top position on the totem pole. ;D

Well they are last among the 7 sites I submit to - and a long way from number 6.  I just had my third 0 dl month in 18 months with them (only other site where that has happened for me is LuckyOliver) and have never had more than 3 dls in a month there.  I am just waiting to reach payout so I can leave - don't like their 90 day lock in policy.  (DT's six month policy is worse but at least I get a few bucks every month off of DT).  fred

BigStock has been pretty consistent for me, running 6th with 8-9% of my monthly total.  Their minimum payout is low enough that I can count on getting money out every month, which isn't always true elsewhere.  And with iStock tanking on me, BigStock may not be 6th for long...

I do not see how anyone could have a zero DL month with BigStock unless they have a handfull of images. You do not have a link to your BigStock port so there is no way I could take a look and possibly guess at the problem.

I had 2 dls my first few days on BigStock 2 1/2 years ago with 6 or 7 images.
The last two years I have 30-60 DLs a month with 2,000+ images.

BigStock deserves to be in the Big 6, the owners are very responsive.
Although the sales sort of mystify me, as my sales are coming in from my oldest stuff. Maybe it's the way of the buyers, which sort of explained why BigStock reminded me how important it is for them to expect a 90 day agreement .
I 've no complaints really, except for the occasional soft rejections... "images cut off do not sell well, thanks".  ??? ???
i wish BigStock well for 2009 8)

Sure - My port is here.

It is very small and I have only been doing MS for 18 months so I can certainly use any help I can find but the same images haven't done so badly elsewhere - i.e. SS, SX, DT, IS, FT - except for Lucky Oliver.

Thanks.

Glad to see it.  BigStock has always been a better earner for me than 123RF.  Besides, no subs and smaller payouts.  Love them.

Fred,
Your port is small but very nice.

Switzerland is a very beautiful country and the golf courses there are the most scenic in the world! Plus ski lodges and skiers! Take advantage of your natural bonuses and shoot them over and over. They WILL sell.

Sure wish I could come there and show you what your already looking at!

Don't give up on BigStock too quick as outdoor sports (any) sell well there and around the world.

I will trade you my house for yours. Interested?

Well they certainly aren't in my 'Big 6'. I've never had much success on BigStock - along with CRE and SV, I cannot even manage anything close to $1000 per year there.

Well done, BigStock is a more high earner (for me) than 123rf. Usually I earn 2-3 times more at BigStock than 123rf.

I really do not understand how some people can do so well on BigStock. I earned there less than 0.4% of my microstock income last month. And BigStock allways was consistently under 1% of  monthly earnings. 123 Rf is about twice as good and struggles just to get over the 1%. To both of them I uploaded until 2-3 month ago my best work, but my hopes that they will finally give me a decent return are dwindling and so my motivation to upload my work to them. To me it seems there are only the big five agencies and there seems to be a huge gap between the 5th best agency and the 6th.

Larry, appreciate you looking at the port and the comments.  I am just mystified about BigStock.   My best sellers from elsewhere do nothing or very little at BigStock - some are rejected by BigStock reviewers - and some of the few sellers I have at BigStock have been rejected everywhere else I have submitted them!

I can only assume that I haven't got the right type of stuff in my BigStock portfolio to be successful there.  I plan to start doing more work with islolated objects and composites so perhaps they will do better.  If not it will be adios to BigStock.

BigStock was really galloping for me a few months back, but now it's just a modest trot!
Hope things will pick up in 2009.

BS has been number six for me during all of 2008, and in December, they were number five, ahead of StockXpert.

I like BigStock always have, I make regular payouts there but nothing compared to some of the others, however I don't expect them to be anywhere near the others, the way you are treated as a contributor is much better than some other sites so I'll continue to give them my support.

The site I'm really disappointed with is 123RF, for the first time in well over a year I didn't make payout last month and have noticed a steady decline recently, I also submit to the parent company Inmagine and having spoken to some others who also submit there we've all reported a lack of sales.
Will they be the next to go or be bought out - wouldn't surprise me.

I do a lot of isolated stuff for BigStock but up to now I'm disappointed with sales. Maybe in 09 it will pick up

hang tight, as i said, strangely enough BigStock sales (at least, for me) come slowly...
almost 3 to 4 months after UL. even now, my dLs are mostly from images i submitted almost 5,6, 7 months ago.

My thoughts as well.  I made almost as much at Zymmetrical since August as I did at 123 last year.   December was my WME at 123.

I pulled out of BigStock a few months ago. Sales were VERY few and far between. Waiting months and months to even reach their modest payout :(

BigStock number 6!!! It MUST be a joke:) BigStock is a clear number 7..

I think, instead of dropping 123rf to "up and coming" the BIG 6 should become the BIG 7..

No way 123rf is just an up and coming site, I make very good there.. I make a payout every month at BigStock and 123rf is 3 times better than that.. It is not pathetic like crestock, can'T:)stock or snapvillage..

Make this thing BIG 7.. It is weird the way it is now..

To the opposite of Ironarrow, I think the Big-6 should be droped to the Big-5 since 123RF and BigStock can't come close to the other 5 except for maybe 2-3% of the contributors.

No subs, low payout target, reasonable review times, decent acceptance rates and steady sales. What's not to like, they have always been a solid performer for me.

That sounds ok too.. But if we start splitting them further then It can go like:

"The Huge 2", (IS and SS) "The Big 3" (FT, DT, StockXpert) and "The Okay 2" (123rf, BigStock)

Or

"The Giant One" (IS), "The Big 4" (SS,FT,DT,StockXpert), "The Reasonable 2" (123rf, BigStock)

The thing is non-of the "Top 7" are close to the misery of the rest..

Do you think that having 3643 images on 123rf and only 194 images on BigStock could have anything to do with it? What is your RPI for both sites?

Cracks me up, 3672 on 123, and 219 on BigStock. I'd be stumped to figure out why my sales were much better on 123?  ::)

Thanks for the laugh, I needed that before I go edit files.

My sales at BigStock are about four times what they are at 123. But to save anyone the trouble of looking, I have four times more photos on BigStock!   ;D

If I was honest, I'd say that the two sites are about equal for me. I do not participate in the monthly survey because the number of photos and the sites I submit to are too small. I don't want to skew the percentages with invalid data.
