I had 5 video chargebacks on istock last week.  Pisses me off how they so gracioulsy allow the buyer to get a copy of our work for free.

I have only had those on iS, DP and 123 and not recently - never on SS, DT or FT.  I hope that hasn't changed.  It seems to me that when somebody downloads one of our files illegally that is the agency's fault, not ours, and we should still get payed since someone has the use of our file.  Sorry to hear about yours and I hope it doesn't spread.

This is the thing I'll never understand. Photo or video is not a laptop or a jacket. They are not even some software with online registration. How could any agency give away content for free, especially with really stupid statements like "buyer was not happy with the quality"? Refunds should be made only for big regular customers who will surely not upload refunded content later on some 1000000000-free-photos-every-day.com

I thought SS doesn't offer refunds? So far I had 2 refunds and all agencies combined, 1 iStcok (a mont ago when other contributors were getting them too) and one at DP...

EDIT: +1 at 123rf..

Thanks for everyones input, Boy I see I'm not alone, other than buying a duplicate there should not be refunds that's why a "comp" is available so you can "try it on"

I just had a couple of 4K charge backs at Videoblocks. At $199 a time, it's no fun.

Yes, charge backs have increased.

Is there any agency that actually refunds money?   As far as I know they just give customers the opportunity to download a different image or video.  Because after all, they have nothing to lose.

Ouch, it's a disappointment with images but a bigger deal with high priced videos!

I used to almost see no charge backs 1 or 2x a year so when I saw 8-10 in a 2 week span I started this post to see how others were doing

DT does charge backs ALL the time. I've never seen one on SS and I've been doing it since 2007 ...

A while back I had 7 sales then 7 chargebacks from VB.  None since, tough. Had about 30 sales in the last year, nothing staggering, but maybe 7-10 sales every few months.

Not sure if it's BS I've had some recently that were bought for a high price refunded and then obviously re-bought for a lower price.

Apparently one reason for that is that a  user bought a lot of files at list price then had a discount applied retrospectively.

I had a funny one recently but for a much lower value. Someone bought a photo of a box of medical tablets as 'personal use' which I thought was very weird at the time. Then it was refunded c10 days later. It was suggested that probably someone thought they were buying the actual tablets, which obviously would never have occurred to me; but noseying around the Web, they must have thought they were getting a real bargain!

It's not funny, it's hilarious. I'm guessing there were no names of the brands of the tablets, so he/she actually didn't even know, what kind of pills was buying?

It was an editorial shot of an actual pack of tablets as is.

Me too on Alamy, but never a refund without a second purchase of the same file. Means they changed the use and license for better price, but it wasn't a return for no sale.

Never had a refund on SS. If I have on IS i didn't miss it, no notices from them of refund. Can't remember where the stolen credit card refund was from years ago. Big batch of downloads all fraud DP?
