Overall earnings were up 20% for another BME. IS continues with excellent growth. SS sank like a brick when I had to take a break from uploading due to my day job; not a real encouraging sign for long term earnings growth potential. FT continues to impress. DT, well not sure what to say; up and down. BigStock is up and down, StockXpert just doesn't like my stuff. 123RF really woke up this month.

I'm at the point where, unless something takes a drastic downturn with IS, I'm strongly considering going exclusive sometime mid-2008.

IS   67% (up 60%, BME)
SS   11% (down 60%, WME)
FT   8% (up 60%, BME)
DT   5% (up 70%)
StockXpert   1% (down 70%)
BigStock   4% (up 450%, BME)
123RF   4% (up 800%, BME)
SV   0% (0 about sums it up)
LO   <1% (down 50% from almost nothing)
AB   0% (dead, never had any sales, removing images)
FP   0% (dead, never any sales)

Here are my numbers. Up and down rates are compared to February 2007. Comparing to last month doesn't really make sense due to seasonal variations.

SS 33%    16% up from 2007
IS 20%  -  92% up  -  BME
StockXpert 14%  -  494% up  -  BME
FT 12%  -  256% up  -  BME
DT 11%  -  3% down
BS 3%  -  44% up
SV 2%  -  BME
RF123 2%  -  29% up
Scanstock 2%  -  300% up
FP 1%  -  40% up
Canstock 1%  -  11% down
SPM 0%  -  0% up
LO 0%  -  86% down
Crestock 0%  -  100% down

Total sales: 60% up and  BME

Interestingly, DT, where it's not possible to opt out of subs, went down 3%, while StockXpert, where I've opted out, has developed very nicely and went sky high compared to last year. Scanstock performs very nicely, considering that they cater for a very local market (BME last month), while the other Norwegian agency, Crestock, is in a class all by itself: zero downloads in February. I've stopped uploading.

For what it is worth. It is my first real month on micro. An average of 88 pics in the portfolios with a per image result of $1.26 for the month. Now if I had 5000 in my portfolios with the same result, I would be pretty happy!  :D

I've been at this for about 3.5 years and it was BME for IS on pure download earnings and then add a couple of referral earnings on top of that and it put me way over the top compared to any month previously. I'm getting downloads all over my portfolio. Older images that have no downloads are suddenly getting downloads. They are making it harder and harder for me not to go exclusive.

SS was one of my WME. In fact, I just sent a bunch of files for inspection there and they reject about 75% of them, some of them selling on IS already. What is going on with them?

Dreamstime is doing OK about where they have been for the past six months.

I have not been uploading any new images over the last couple of months, and the most noticeable thing is the huge decrease in income from Shutterstock, this month was only 25% of my BME.  Good month at Istock though.

Istock     39%
DT          18%
FT           16%
SS          11%
BS           8%

SS - 25% (334 images)
StockXpert - 20% (255 images) BME
IS - 20% (42 images) BME
DT - 13% (247 images) BME
FT - 12% (310 images) BME
Other - 6% (includes Canstockphoto, Crestock, Featurepics, Snapvillage, and Zymmetrical)
BigStock - 5% (222 images)

---

Earnings up 12.2% from January, making February my new BME overall.

Amazing how 42 images at Istock made me almost as much as 255 images on StockXpert and beat all others except Shutterstock. It was a horrible month at Shutterstock for me, I didn't upload anything new so the sales were down down down. All other sites did very good for not uploading anything new. Very pleased overall.

SS 82,8% (102 images)

... it was BME for IS ... They are making it harder and harder for me not to go exclusive.

For the first time in a very long time, IS - which came in 3rd place behind SS and FT - was only just behind the top 2 (~$10 less).

I have always rejected the idea of exclusivity, but seriously began to think about it. I can't do anything for a while - I'm free of commitments at DT but need another couple of months for BigStock and longer at Albumo.

The recent dust-up with Fotolia about uploading ID scans over an unsecure link and into an unsecure environment just left me fed up with the hassle of dealing with multiple sites. iStock is no saint in that regard, but at least you'd just be dealing with one pain versus several :). Funny how things change.

The bottom fell out of BigStock earnings in February (it was about the same as Feb 2006!!) after a stellar Christmas season.

123rf continues to be a strong minor player after making Faves choices from my portfolio. BigStock, DT, 123rf and StockXpert trundle along in roughly the same earnings tier.

Edited to add the percentages:
SS  25%
FT   24%
IS   23%
StockXpert   9%
DT     7%
BigStock   5.5%
123   5.5%

Interesting stats here are mine:

BME ;D overall getting closer to the $300 mark

1. SS BME + 37% (due to 2 EL otherwise not so good...)
2.FT BME +29%
2.IS BME +36%
3.DT BME +71%
4.123RF BME  +40%
5.StockXpert -11%

These stats are getting more and more complicated to do... I guess it is a good sign. ;D

BME by 13%. Second BME in a row.
BMEs at SX, and SS. Jan besides BME overall had BMEs at BigStock, FT, and IS. Feb would have been a BME at 123 if not for ELs in one month last year. FT only real down month in Feb.

Overall, 2008 rocks.

And today pretty good for a Saturday

[/quote]

We seem to be hearing this more and more often. It's ironic that the other sites seem to be pushing so many of us to this conclusion, plus of course IS seems to have performed very well so far this year.

I wonder how they've done it? It's almost as if raising prices brought in more customers :)

We will decide at the end of this month. We have RF on Alamy, and it takes 6 months for them to disappear from their servers. We will then re-upload the best of the unsold ones as RM.

When Yuri stated in SS forums that subs would need to $1 per DL if SS wants to get back on top, I must admit I laughed, but he's right. Somehow I don't see it happening.

Still, with 7 months to wait before we can go exclusive, there's plenty of time to watch what happens.

We might even make Diamond by then. :D

Overall it was my BME, just edging out November 07 by 1% or so.

Not BME in downloads however.  The higher $ are a result of istock raising prices and me raising my prices on Fotolia.
Here's the breakdown:

IS 35%
Fot 20%
SS 18%
DT 11%
StockXpert 7%
BigStock 6%
123 3%
Crest 1%
CanStockPhoto 0%

I am really hoping for a significant raise at Shutterstock to bring them back up to 20% or better of my earnings.  Sales there are very good, but with the other sites raising prices they have dropped in my earnings.  Since I use their monthly payments to pay my taxes I would love to get a raise... :)

FT 27%
SS 23%
IS 13%
DT 12%
StockXpert 11%
BigStock 6%
123rf 4%
Other sites less than 2% each with crestock and canstock being the only ones with less than 1%

Here are mine.

IS - 56%    (344 images)  BME
FT - 16%    (355 images)  BME
SS - 14%   (419 images)
DT - 14%   (356 images)  BME

I'm still pondering exclusivity at IS but I just can't get past some of the decisions they make.  Every time I inch closer to it they do something stupid. (case in point, I am not happy about their current month-long sale)  A lot may depend on how much of a raise SS comes up with in May.

uups, I just checked my snapvillage account (I do that only once in a while due to VERY low expectations...): hard to believe, but my first DL there ($7,50). Time to upload some more images now....

I've been reading over on the IS forums about February earnings... lots of veterans lamenting the fact that downloads are off significantly over the past several months. I wonder if one of these top line Microstock agencies would ever sharply cut off new contributors? Do they no think the contributors they have now are enough to handle the load of the demand? It seems like the influx of new contributors at all the bigger sites are really starting to dilute downloads for people with bigger portfolios...

My February and 2008 numbers, with 2007 for comparison:

Site 2007 2008 Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
IS 26% 31% 22% 37%
DT 16% 22% 30% 16%
StockXpert 20% 15% 19% 12%
FT 13% 9% 8% 11%
BigStock 8% 7% 8% 5%
123 4% 6% 5% 8%
FP 3% 3% 2% 3%
CanStockPhoto 2% 1% 1% 1%
LO 2% 2% 3% 1%
Scan 1% 1% 0% <1%
CS <1% 0% 0% 0%
Zymm<1% 3% 3% 5%
rest 4% 2% 3% 1%

BME, 8.5% above previous BME (Mar/07).  Overall earnings were 32% above January and 80% above December (which was a slow month for me).

BME at IS, with an EL helping make it 54% above previous BME (even without the EL it would have been my BME - I can only dream of another month like this...).  DT, StockXpert and BigStock were down by 15-30%.  FT was 80% above January, a good result after six months of declining performance (new prices helped it more than number dlds).  Excellent month at 123RF, more than doubling my average monthly earnings in the past six months.

2nd BME in FP with few but well priced sales.  A couple of good sales also in Zymm made it an outstanding month there too.  Few sales in CanStockPhoto, no sales in CS.

Not shown above, I had one sale in Albumo and one in SV.

Regards,
Adelaide
