January is very different for me than latest months.

DT is leading my earnings, with daily sales.  IS comes in second with a performance similar to last months.  StockXpert sadly dropped to a third place and well behind, with very few sales.  BigStock is close to it, and proportionally having a good month.  FT is low, as it's been lately, and FP actually got the 5th place from it.

I am particularly surprised with DT x StockXpert.

Adelaide

It sell good so far whit my small portfolio. SS and IS always first and second StockXpert in third and all others are going to hell whit no download at this time. ;)

I did better than November and December at SS and IS and we are just the half of the month :)

I set the goal of $100 this month, but thanks SS this goal has already been meet. These are the earnings from each site (with my 4 months with microstocks)

SS $73.25   IS $14.69   DT $9.5      FT 10.56   13RF 2.88   BS $5

on StockXpert they still evaluate my images (350 of them, it has been a week already)

Up until and including 13 January, I'm 57% above the same period last year for all agencies combined. SS is up 8% compared to last year after a slow start.

While SS represented 49% of my sales at this time last year, they only have a 33% share in 2008. Food for thought, not least with regards to our subscription debate.

Maybe its a bit early. Overall rather slow start. But one surprise: based on $$/day istock shot up, so far twice as much as in December (which was bad) and even 12% higher as in November (was BME), resulting in 49% of overall revenue in January.

So far I like the price change at istock.

Comparing January this year with January last year, I have three times as many pictures in my portfolio on average.
I have so far made six times as much money as this time last year. Fotolia especially is romping away with the sales, with SS not far behind.
IS seems to have stagnated. My portfolio is much smaller there as they reject everything out of hand, but what I have got seems to be selling much slower than usual. Last year they were my top earner, this year they are not even in the top 5.

Significantly under december so far mainly due to SS and DT, SS went down quite a lot like -50 %.
On a positive note, I will have a BME at IS,LO and StockXpert
Really strange month with a different pattern so far, will see how the second half come

IS up a little  ... SS up only due to EL's,  DT, BigStock running flat, the rest LO,StockXpert, 123, ScanStck, NLS, Alamy, FT, FP, down or zip. (in fairness, still small folio at 4 of them, poor sales more due to me, I can't expect to sell what isn't there)    8)=tom

What is surprising me is specifically DT and StockXpert performances.

In DT, I have already made more than in December, and it's already the best of the past 6 months - easily it will be the best of them - which is quite a nice surprise after months of slow motion.

In StockXpert however, if the current tendency persists along the rest of the month, it will be my worst month in the past 6, after four months being my best earner.

Everything is down for me... I had about 100 less images this time last year and sales were almost double a year ago. Especially at SS where sales are way down, but I think it's their search engine favoring new stuff. I've five referrals at IS in the past month! DT is about the same as last year again on a portfolio that is about 1/3 smaller.

Having a good month on SS, On target for my best month ever. Have been trying to shoot more stock orientated images which seems to be helping (few isolations).  Next month hoping to get the 30c Raise, will be just over a year since i joined.

Hoping other sites pickup though.

My small portfolio is starting to catch on after 3 1/2 months of uploading. Here are my results so far:

DT    = 4 dl's  off of 24 image portfolio
FT     =  1 dl's off of 24 image portfolio
123rf = 1 dl's off of 75 image portfolio
BigStock   =  1 dl's off of 44 image portfolio
FP     =  0 dl's off of 27 image portfolio

Albumo = 0 dl's off of 40 image portfolio (Stopped uploading and will drop)
CS (Stopped uploading and will drop)

My first download ever came on Thanksgiving day ... all the rest have been in Dec / Jan.

I know get to say: This will be my "BME."

my january is much better than i thought it would be :) IS keeps doing very well... but SS is worse every month since september. StockXpert the same as the last 4 months and DT as well.
i made some valentine's files and one of them is on the most popular illustrations of the last week on IS... i don't know if this is the reason i'm doing so well there, but i'm really really happy!

Not sure yet. I have been frustrated so far that my new uploads do not seem to be increasing my overall sales at Shutterstock much at all like I expected and hoped, IS was doing great until a couple of days ago and today would have been horrible if not for an extended license sale. Hope they didn't change the search engine there again last weekend. StockXpert a little slow but hoping it will pick up, DT seems to be picking up the last few days, the rest about the same I guess, I will know more at the end of the month but I am crossing my fingers and hoping my 50 new uploads this month, and the 100 or so I will have ready by next month(all vector illustrations) will raise my sales everywhere enough to make it worth the effort. Looking forward to getting my D300 on order and then I won't have to upsize so much for Alamy

Few % better than in december (which was horrible month), but nothing positive on it. Started uploading more images and the SS is getting better and better. Also noticed that last 100 images I have uploaded to Istock has no sales at all (thats bad).

FT, SX, and SS way down.

CS dead, and FP and LO erratic as usual.

This is becoming interesting. half of January has passed. SS is now 14% ahead of last year, while total profit is 79% ahead. Per 15 January 2007, SS represented 48% of my profits. The same date 2008, that has been reduced to 31%.

My portfolio has increased around 50% during 2007, so SS is clearly under-performing, while the bulk of the others are doing better than could be expected.

One of the most important contributing factors is the price hike at IS. Apparently, sales have not gone down there in spite of that. To me, that clearly shows that prices have been too low, and that there's much more to earn for photographers and agencies alike.

Yesterday, I also had my first 10$ sale a SV, generating a healthy 3$. They obviously have a long way to go, but now I hardly price any new uploads there at less than 10$. I encourage everybody else to do the same.

I've noticed that too... my recent uploads over the past couple of months are seeing very little downloads while my older stuff keeps selling. I'm sure when they changed the search engine last summer it made it harder to find new uploads or something like that...

except Istock with new commissions, doing better and better...others sites are like december.
SS is down for me, passed from 45dl's a day to 15 !!!
123Rf still medium, BigStock is always catastrophic (8$), LO is dead (like always), some downloads at crestock at 0.25c...I think stopping uploading to this stingy site.
Mostphoto: after 2 sell in November, nothing more.
Fotolia is like always: good sales but low earnings
DT is like Fotolia: not bad, but need uploading more stuff
Stockxpert is the same as fotolia and dreamstime.
Since my starting in July, my best month is still November with 550$

On the same number of images as December, January is trailing in terms of downloads and earnings.

FT is doing progressively worse (Dec & Jan) than November
SS is at the same levels as Dec
BigStock, 123 & DT are doing much better, although their contribution to total earnings is marginal.

The same I had, it seems it's an unlimited seats license - at least this was the only one I found with 25 credits.  I opened a thread in DT's suggestion forum:

I hope they can make reports more clear.

It's a great month everywhere except Dreamstime and Fotolia. I know that I have to boost my acceptance at Dreamstime, but Fotolia is still a mystery at this time.

Since I edited my keywords whit the more relevent up there's barely no sales. Shutterstock seem to be ok and Istock do very good since the price change. Stockxpert have a little drop but nothing too drastic.

IS leads by 50% though not spectacular.
DT is a distant second, flat but ok.
123rf is improving every month though the earnings are low due to too many subscription DLs.
FT trails behind and the reviews are very unpredictable. It remains the only site which prohibits external links and any numbers. What is it afraid of?
LO is still kinda alive and let's wait and see.

8 January Sales on my small portfolio as follows:

5 = DT        (24 images approved)
1 = FT         (28 images apprvoed)
2 = 123rf    (89 images approved)
0 = BigStock       (48 images)
0 = FP         (33 images)
0 = Albumo (39 images and removing one a day as there is almost zero view traffice there)
0 = Crestock (4 images and stopped uploading)

Good luck to everyone with the rest of January as this is my BME up from 2 sales last month. Looks like its starting to ramp up for me :)

It is difficult to compare agencies because the number of images in your portfolio are usually not the same.  I made some calculations with my figures for Januarie 1 - 22. Even this isn't accurate, because I uploaded photos during the month, with some agencies more than others. I only used the 4 agencies doing best for me, because it makes up at least 95% of my sales. This is the result:

Shutterstock: 32.71% of my portfolio, 44.12% of my income, $3.74 per image per year, acceptance rate 91%.

iStockphoto: 11.9% of my portfolio, 25.82% of my income, $6.02 per image per year, acceptance rate 87%.

Dreamstime: 32.71% of my portfolio, 13.24% of my income, $1.43 per image per year, acceptance rate 82%.

Fotolia:  22.68% of my portfolio, 13.24% of my income, $1.61 per image per year, acceptance rate 91%.

I'm running around $127 in earnings as of this morning.  Not on pace to hit my goal of $200 unless we get some EL sales, but it has been going along very nicely since the holiday lull (first 8-10 days of January).  I may actually set an all-time DL mark at Shutterstock for one month.

Shutterstock has run out to a surprisingly huge lead, generating about 43% of total earnings
iStock is down big from previous months, but still decent at 20%
Fotolia has been a nice surprise this month, up to 13%
Dreamstime around 11%
BigStockPhoto around 9%
StockXpert and 123RF make up the rest.  Nothing yet from FeaturePics.

At IS things finally got going around the 7th. Sales have been trickling in. Total downloads are way off compared to a year ago (January 2007 was my BME with a portfolio half the size it is now). I've had two referrals this month, so that's help. Haven't had and EL in six months. I'm half tempted to go exclusive to see if I can boost sales there...

DT is my 2nd best, but by far and I can't upload enough to feed the SS beast to keep sales up over there...

I have the same goal as Dan and ldambies - breaking the 200$.
I am about 40$ away.
Shutterstock is in the lead due to an EL, Fotolia is doing surprisingly well - I had 8 DLs there yesterday (it's been a while). Istock is a bit slower than the last months so far and my DT port is rather small. Let's see if the 200$ barrier can be made.

Yes, it surprised me a bit too.

I am only a "bit" player (around 180 DLs in total so far this month), but the 5 from LO averaged $6.32/download. It was my best LO month since September, when I had 7 downloads averaging $11.06/download.

I seem to get more ELs on LO than anywhere else.

I have to say that my renewed vigor in uploading has boosted my earnings and downloads to the point that I'm going to have my best month in over a year at IS. If I added in referral earnings, it is by far my BME. SS and DT and Alamy trail way behind, but still not to the point that exclusivity is an option.
