Title: nice detailed acceptance feedback
Post by: ultimagina on December 18, 2014, 10:34
One of my photos submitted to Dreamstime, has been accepted, but classified as editorial.

I wrote back, asking for clarifications, since I was pretty certain that all the logos, billboards, etc were blurred and or erased (btw, that photo was already accepted by SS in the commercial pool.)

To my surprise DT gave me a nice, detailed answer:

"There is HYATT written on the hotel on the left part of image (building with pink lights).
Thanks
Best regards"

It will be great if the other agencies would bother to give this decent feedback when rejecting photos!

Problems like the one above can be easily fixed. This approach is a clear win-win for both the agency and the contributor and, why not, for the end customer.

PhotoDune, Shutterstock, Bigstock, 123RF, Graphic Leftovers, Istock, and probably others too, all do that.

SS and IS have generic rejections reasons, FT has very generic reasons.

This post was meant for the Big 4.

If you email Shutterstock and ask, they will tell you what is wrong as well, and IS has that kind of support as well. Only Fotolia doesnt tell you.

Many agencies help you when you ask for clarification.

Not my experience, I have always been sent to read some blog where I was supposed to get my answer from. Since it was so vague, I stopped asking.
But I believe you.

Maybe a few years back, but they changed to a more personal approach

I've had generic rejections at iS (in the past when rejections were more common) with
++ (specific reason, especially if I'd missed a logo).
Also you can Scout a rejection and you'll sometimes get a clarification that way.
