Not the white power thing again, it was a fake that was started by some stupid online group that seems to have gained traction in the dumb ass world of the internet :(

Looks like some agencies are also dim witted :D

Whats the sign language version I only see an * (asterisk)

also, shutterstock has begun rejecting many hand gesture signs and also words.

EDIT: soon they'll reject any white male imagery or footage because the feminists said we are misogynist and we must die.

American political correctness designed and tailored to divide and distract the populace. It's getting to the point that I am scared to joke about myself for fear I will offend someone.

Initially I wanted to make a funny comment on correctness as I actually agree with previous posts.

But.

All kind of {correctness} have nothing to do or affect people as all you,
artists, story tellers and still or running frame manipulators.
Freedom of expression is fundamental in this kind of creative work.
Why? Because it was supposed to be art and personal expression overall.
As we can reject a project to work on, others can reject whatever of our work they don't feel that suits them.

many US hand gestures have different meanings elsewhere:

'ok' here means 'you're a zero' in france and
"But make the same gesture in Brazil, and you're giving the equivalent to the middle finger the gesture has "insulting and scatological connotations," as the New York Times put it. Richard Nixon once raised some eyebrows in the 1950s when he made the gesture in Brazil as he stepped off a plane. "   businessinsider.com

and btw, search "ok sign" on SS to get--
291,903 ok sign stock photos, vectors, and illustrations are available royalty-free.

weapons are abused every day and they are still not forbidden. Some psychopath uses a hand gesture and it is banned everywhere. #GreatNewWorld

Well, I didn't know that meaning before. Was the first time I saw it.

It has no sense to ban normal pictures.

Building where SS headquarters is located:
I have a licensed firearm. Can I bring it?
Your firearm will be seized and you will be arrested unless you are a member of the following law enforcement agencies:

It's a private company, if they don't want images with the color pink in them or images of puppies they can ban them.  They get to make the rules.  Also free speech isn't a universal value, hate speech is banned in lots of places.

Of course they get to make the rules. Doesnt make it any less stupid. Do they post somewhere a list of banned gestures, or do contributors just have to wait for a rejection and then guess the reason? I never would have even thought to even look at such a list, if it even exists, for the ok sign. The world gets more stupid every day.  ::)

It's really stupid how the word police are telling people what they may and may not think or say. And some of them being politicians are re-writing the law which is wrong.

We haven't actually seen the picture, it may not be as simple as just the ok sign, there are hundreds of thousands of images on Shutterstock if you search "ok sign".  If I was running shutterstock I don't think I would want lots of nazi propaganda (like the salute for an example of a gesture) pictures on the site, that would be waiting for some really bad press when those images got used in recruiting or by someone committing violence.  I'm not sure but it may be illegal some places too.

If the image is shown, we will know if it is within the theme of photography in this forum, or it is simply an attempt to speak here of topics from other forums.

Thank you very much for the information. Very interesting. Very valid image for health, medicine,......., and very smart, from my perspective. It does not offend me. It seems that they will try to avoid the images that may generate the slightest controversy. It will be necessary to observe if it is the new general line or something isolated by a reviewer.

Well I had sometime ago an image rejected as being sexist. It was an image portraying domestic violence.

I complained, it was reviewed by a higher tier inspector and again rejected.

One image of the series had been approved years before and it was a best seller. And believe me, nothing in that image was visually offensive, showing physical violence or anything like that. It wasn't even a sensitive image by any means.

But to the agency it was sexist because it represented a man exercising psychological violence towards a woman. Like that never happens...

The truth is that the agency decided to clearly enforce a political and ideological agenda.
