Why not just pay us a respectful commission like 40% and skip yet another incentive to succeed???

There's an incentive? I guess I don't get all the emails or news. Or I deleted it without reading.  :)

They ditched RM last year. Now what?

We are excited to announce that in 2021 we will be
launching our global Rewards Program.

If you are a Getty Images or iStock Exclusive contributor, when you create new content for many Creative and Custom Content briefs (using brief codes) you will be able to collect points and unlock our Rewards Program.

 ‌
 ‌
 ‌
The more you shoot, the more Rewards you unlock. Once qualified you will receive Rewards throughout the year.

From live and online learning resources, up to 1‑1 Creative Guidance sessions for our most successful contributors, our Rewards are designed to help you grow and succeed.

Full details of the program will follow in January 2021. In the meantime, keep shooting to briefs!

Dumb.  Lets make some weird complicated thing instead of just being ethical.

I would not be surprised that they are not receiving the content they want. Not briefs and also not custom content. The perks will not engage pros because what they usually want is too expensive to produce for too small reward. Not even at 40% -I am at this percentage- is it worth it. Custom content is even worse. They would need to pay at least 5x times per image selected so I would take the risk to produce a session they want.  I doubt pros will jump on this new wagon.

In my honest opinion Getty/Istock is in deep trouble, specially on the video playing field. Just make any search on their site or Pond5 and Adobe. The quality and quantity in Getty is dismal. They are loosing clients and premium content producers and they don't know how to stop the bleeding. That's the reality for them. They worked hard to make it happen. Turning the wheel will be nearly mission impossible.

This new plan sounds like one of our great government plans. As the Government says  " We are here to Help "

I agree totally with you Sean. Companies like Getty and Shutterstock have underestimated how important it is for many producers to supply to companies that behave in an ethical way. Sure they still get material from some factories but they loose a lot of creative diversity. Stocksy is a strong prove of that. Sure the money is an incentive but tell 100 pros if they would like to be in Stocksy and another 100 if they would like to be or return supplying to Getty/Istock. We all know the answer, they know it too. And about Shutterstock ....they are so low in the scale and loosing so fast premium material content that they might go down even faster than Istock did when they started to whip their contributors.

In summary they're not getting enough brief content, or not enough of the right content, and are dangling a carrot. And the carrot is training?

Or maybe is the problem that contributors spend hundreds or thousands of dollars shooting for briefs and end up with pennies or dollars in return? I'm not feeling motivated by this program. May be just me.

Ive never understood the attraction of creating the Getty custom content unless its someone, somewhere or something youve got immediately to hand.

The return just doesnt justify the effort.

Thanks for the answer, I'm none of the above.

They still assume that the majority of producers are hobby/amateurs and not people running a business.

You can add some incentives in addition to a genuine royalty basis that makes sense and allows for high quality production.

They are making it so easy for Adobe to become No 1, I really don't get it.

If the so called "reward" is not fair financial compensation then what is the point? Unidentified "rewards" dont pay the rent or put food on the table!
