I opened an account at Absolute Stock (http://www.absolutestockphoto.com/) over a year ago. Later I was approved, but only this year I tried to upload something, but I always get an error message. I emailed them in these two occasions (2-3 months apart) and never got a reply from them.
Does anyone know them, has any experience with them? Is that site abandoned? :-\

dont know sorry, but I put them into
http://www.websitevaluecalculator.com/ (http://www.websitevaluecalculator.com/)
which said they are worth $111
for comparison my website, which I still haven't fixed, doesnt use any optimisation, doesnt have proper tags / keywords etc etc is worth $95
I think you may be wasting your efforts with this one :)

Well, I'm glad now that I was never able to upload anything (and their customer support never replied to me), although my plan was uploading RM stuff there.
Hello Everyone,
I'm writing after great thought and deliberation regarding our current RF pricing structure and the direction the stock photography industry has been headed for some time now.
Our sales have been falling off dramatically since the boom of miro-payment sites such as Shutterstock.com, Dreamstime.com, BigStockPhoto.com, Fotolia.com, and many more of the like. I have received comments from a couple photographers regarding their desire to keep the pricing of their images away from the micropayment/subscription pricing. At the same time I am hearing again and again from photographers who do sell on subscription and micropayment sites that their earings are decent and consistant.
Based on the many data points I've collected I've decided that it is time for Absolute Stock Photo to make a shift with our RF pricing.
Effective August 1st I will be shifting the pr icing for all royalty-free images to micro-payment level pricing. I have not flushed out the exact details, but basically we will offer our smallest image for $2 and require a minimum purchase (like $20). I'm also exploring the option of having the micro-payment cost structure on a more restrictive RF license and then allow for a more liberal license for a price similar to what we are charging currently.
I value all of your opinions and experiences and I am open to suggestions - please let me know your thoughts.
If you feel strongly about not reducing your pricing on your images you are welcome to shift the images to Rights Managed license where the pricing will remain unchanged.
Many Thanks!

I think this is another sign of what is coming, only two tiers - micro rf and rights managed

I'm resurrecting this old thread for some update - nothing to attract people, on the contrary. It must be their last sigh before death...
Dear Contributing Photographers,
I hope that everyone has being having a good 2010. This communication to all of you is long overdue and there is many things I need to brief all of you on regarding the status and future of Absolute Stock Photo.
I first want to address the excessive downtime of ASP over the past month. We host our own server and have been experiencing Denial of Service Attacks which effectively clogs up the works and crashes the web server rendering the site unreachable. I have not been able to identify/implement a solution to prevent this from happening so we are in a state of restarting the server over and over again. I understand this is an unacceptable state of operation and I have ultimate plans for migrating back to a professional hosting service. Since the price of storage is so much cheaper than 5 years ago I believe this will be a viable solution.
Second, I’d like to let you know that after much deliberation, I’ve come to the conclusion that we do need to keep up with the (dream)times and implement a subscription and credit system on our site. I found a great pre-fab solution that will do just the trick. When I found it back in April there was only one problem that I found with its implementation – unfortunately it was a deal breaker. The problem was that the architecture the software used limited the number of files to 32K files. The vendor was made aware of this issue and finally on July 7th they released an upgrade which resolves this file limitation.
I’d love your feedback on this software solution…

At this point our sales are so small that running Absolute Stock Photo and putting the time in just to keep it running at a basic level is a financially losing proposition for me. I do have a significant emotional and historical time investment in Absolute Stock Photo and I do not have any intent on abandoning the business.
What I do foresee is generating an option for photographers to pay a fee and I’ll set them up their own subdomain at absolute (i.e. “firstnamelastname.absolutestockphoto.com”) and for a monthly fee they can have all of the profits to their sales and have exclusive administrative rights so they can configure the site as they/you wish setting your own pricing, terms, etc. – I’m interested in your thoughts on this offering.
Due to the late release of the software’s defect fix and the fact that I don’t have any extra time this summer – migration of the site to the new software will begin in September.
Many Thanks!
Julie Landman

Never heard of the place, but why would someone pay for the use of their website when they didn't generate any sales to begin with. Sounds like the guy is a college student with a summer job.

This site has been around for years as RM. She must have graduated by now. ;)
-
She seems to have her heart into the site but that's way too much info to be dishing out publicly. "I'm losing money but am emotionally attached". Not a real confidence builder for buyers or contributors.
And the site needs a lot of work. The design looks 1997-ish. And it looks like she's proposing a Photoshelter sell-it-yourself type of model. For $10 per month Photoshelter now offers a really slick custom site. If she doesn't already have this functionality where's the money coming from to build it?
I wish her the best but I'm not seeing the potential the way it looks and is being presented.

Maybe she was a business major and never passed the final exam and finally gave up... ;)
-
Why anyone would waste time with this is beyond me.

They sell vodka, right?

Don't want to bother anybody, but I keep an Alexa and Cubestat one-glance table here (http://flemishdreams.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67&Itemid=71) for years.
(I'm worth $264.99).

Thank you for using Absolute Stock Photo.
To me, this sounds exactly like what we have already seen from photoshelter.. Pay for the usage of the shop and don't blame us for the lack of sales...
