Hi,

Has anyone here got experience with both Getty AND Corbis?

And what is your experience  not just in RPI, but also overall? (Submission procedure, Editors, being "taken care of" as a contributor,...)

Many thanks!

The only one to consider is the original Getty-RM, their main-core section,  which nowdays is closed. been supplying there private and industry name, since 93,thats where the money is.  The rest is nothing.

Corbis,  well you have their Veers,  which is about the same. Corbis is not very good at RMs. blame Bill Gates :)

I'm with Corbis via Zefa. At Corbis I have an Art Director. At Getty I don't have an Art Director I submit via their portal this can be very frustating, but I've read you have an AD at Getty.
They are very selective with their RM-Content (much more than Getty). I only have RM with them (at Getty I have both). Earnings are comparable with Getty (a little less sales as Getty but you get 40%  for RM at Corbis so it levels out earnings-wise).
Pictures do sell over a very long time. Editorial sales are mostly in the two digit-range but you do get advertisment-sales in the four digit-range regularly.

To grp_photo; I hope you won't mind if I ask you what is "Zefa?"  A Google search for that term turned up absolutely no results, so my curiosity is piqued.

Thanks...

It was a German agency which was bought by Corbis but still has its headquarter at Dsseldorf. Old pictures are in the collection zefa at Corbis new pictures are in the collection Comet at Corbis.

Thanks for the reply.  It's interesting: if you type "zefa" into Google without hitting the return key you don't get any results about the stock agency in the preliminary findings.  However, hitting the return key gives a completely different set of results, including all the stock agency info.  Kind of weird.

If I remeber correctly, ZEFA, when it was independant was a very highly regarded agency, housing many top pros and ranked alongside Stones and Image-Bank.

Yes, neither one answers my emails or applications, after years (once a year so I won't be too pesky) and various attempts though different channels. I shoot the same as what they pay Hired Guns to shoot, at the same events. Apparently it's too much trouble for them to say, "No Thank You", we aren't interesting in you competing with our in house collection. ;)

I mean, even, Go Away, would be nice as a way to confirm they actually read the application or email?

You can translate this into, if you apply, don't expect them to embrace your pictures and maybe they won't even answer. The good old boys club hasn't closed or changed it's membership barriers.

Well I find the "or not" part to be identical. Nothing is still Nothing?  :)
